Top tips for hiring a car at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl airport

  • Car rental at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl Airport is a convenient way to leap into Guerrero right away. As with most car rentals in international airports, you have a broad array of choices from economy cars, compact minis, premium, and luxury vehicles when you book through KAYAK. Pick your best ride depending on your needs. Minivans and midsize SUVs come in handy for family vacations, while convertibles are more appropriate for romantic getaways to Ixtapa.
  • To book a car at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport (ZIH), enter your pick-up and drop-off location in our search toolbox (and the travel dates). Select a different drop-off location if you need a one-way car rental. Note that most one-way trips come with a surcharge. Once you hit the search button, you'll get a list of the available cars based on price, proximity to the airport, and our recommendations. Scroll through the agencies listed on our site to see what works best for you.
  • The best part of booking an Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl Airport car rental through KAYAK is that you can refine your search results by capacity, mileage, fuel policy, and payment type. The capacity entails both the number of passengers and bags that the vehicle can accommodate. As for the payment type, you can choose between the 'pay now' and 'pay at the rental counter' options. If limited mileage doesn't meet your travel needs, just tick the box with 'unlimited mileage'.
  • Thanks to the convenient location of the return areas at ZIH Airport, you should drop off your rental car with minimum fuss. The parking lots are situated next to the national and international arrivals halls. What if your travel plans suddenly change and you have to rethink when and where to drop off the vehicle? It would be wrong to assume that the rental company will refund you for the unused days or fuel. On the other hand, late returns will simply add an extra cost to your car rental bill.
  • Book your car hire at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl airport at least 4 weeks before your trip in order to get a below-average price

FAQs about renting a car at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl airport

  • What items do I need to pick my car rental at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl Airport?

For a smooth process at the rental pick-up counter, have the reservation voucher, a national ID card or passport, a credit card, and a driving permit. Then you are supposed to sign several documents such as the insurance papers and, of course, the rental agreement. Keep copies of the paperwork because you will need them later. Examine the car rental terms because each agency has distinct rules regarding credit cards, IDs, and driver's experience.

  • What else should I know when driving to and from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl Airport?

At sunrise, ZIH Airport handles a considerable amount of road traffic because that's when both local and international travelers enter and exit the terminal. Later, there will be congestion on the main roads connecting the airport to Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo at sunset. Since Ixtapa is a small beach resort city, you need not worry much about beating rush hours. If it's is your first time in Mexico, make sure you’re used to driving on the right side.

  • What are the convenient services available at Ixtapa Airport car rental area?

Clients looking for a car rental at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl Airport can enjoy various amenities while waiting to be served. You can have a bite in one of the restaurants or read a newspaper from a book store while relaxing in a lounge. Duty-free shops, vending machines, and ATMs are available on the ground. If you need first aid, there are emergency services to take care of you.

  • Are damages covered in the car rental contract?

Whether you buy an insurance policy from your car rental provider at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl Airport or have different coverage, always check for damages before driving. Take pictures of the interior and exterior parts of the car with your phone camera. If you note some damage not outlined in the rental contract, report the issue immediately to the rental company. This helps to avoid problems when the time comes to return the car.

  • Which car rental companies will pick you up at Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl airport?

Car rental companies that offer shuttle or pick-up services from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Intl airport to off-airport locations include Advantage, Alamo, Europcar, GREEN MOTION , Hertz, Payless, Thrifty, and U-Save.

The car was fine I just don’t like getting extorted on insurance. I have my credit card insurance that covers everything but they would not let me leave unless I paid there insurance which is extremely high. I realized it was a scam once the started to negotiate on there price as it was not a fixed price.
