Pros: Alamo was great. But it was my second choice, after my first choice -- some no name rental agency called Mex, selected initially via Kayak, which routed me through Rentcars.com -- was a friggin disaster. I landed at 6 pm, the time of my reservation, only to discover that the rental office was already closed. There was no one to help me, no number to call, no customer service from anyone in that chain, including Kayak. It was a friday evening at 6. I tried 4 other rental agencies; they were either out of cars or were asking insane amounts of $$ for them. I had to get a ride from the airport, and come back the next morning to rent from Alamo. (Which was great.)Cons: Alamo was great. Avoid Mex Rent a Car and Rentcars.com at all costs. No one picks up the phone at Mex and you can't leave a voicemail. The number for Rentcars doesn't work, and the email responses are all in Portuguese. I'm not kidding. Why Kayak continues to use these vendors is a mystery to me. Makes me reconsider my choice in travel apps.

Pros: The Enterprise staff was very helpful since there was no one in the Alamo booth at that hour to pick up the vehicle. I was upgraded to Premium Premium due to no Suburban available to pick up. I enjoyed driving the Cadillac Esclade.Cons: Nothing.

After spending vlose to $1,000 in last 30 days she decided she didn’t like me because I reminded her of her ex husband who left her for another man.Cons: Professional behavior, friendly, let’s make customer happy attitude.

Pros: Staff was super friendly at both the pick up and the drop off. However, I don't appreciate the fast talking sales person trying to upsell is a shady manner. Suddenly my one way rental jumped from $70 to $130 but luckily the customer service guy on the phone and the staff at the drop off location were super helpful, understanding and accommodating.Cons: Explain all the charges clearly and slowly and include actual pricing info instead of trying to just get the most out of every customer. People are on strict budgets these days and lack of transparency and not having the customers best interest in mind will cause you to lose business.

Cons: Called the car company several times after landing at San Diego Airport to request customer pick up and no answered the phone. My fiancé and I spent several hours waiting. The worst experience I’ve ever had with a car rental company and with Kayak.

Pros: Assistant Manager was helpful but could have done more to correct the problems and make me feel like my business was appreciated.Cons: Vehicle was a complete mess upon pick-up. Dirt, dust and dead bugs all over the front of the car. More crumbs and dirt inside the vehicle. Like, so much that it was first thing I noticed when I opened the doors. When I asked the employee if the car had been cleaned the only response I got was, “ I tried.” Enterprise has some pretty strict cleaning guidelines for covid but this particular employee refused to adhere to the mask policy because “it was too hot.” Watched the Manager scold her for it. Apparently she had already been warned...

Cons: Check-in was painfully slow. I had to use the video check-in terminal with a remote agent. I was talked into a so called upgrade that I later regretted. The Dodge Journey was sold to me as an SUV, which wasn’t true but they had no other vehicles available in my class. Vehicle was underpowered and not what I needed. Last time with Thrifty, me thinks.

Pros: Car was great, exactly what I ordered.Cons: DO NOT believe anything the desk agent says. First I was ridiculed for buying insurance through a 3rd party and not Thrifty, a “stupid move” according to the agent. Then I was told I should prepay for fuel so that I could have the vehicle “topped off” when I dropped it off. Never was I shown a brochure saying what I was signing for was $68 in fuel and $30 in taxes and surcharges. I returned the vehicle with a full tank and 16 miles on the odometer since fuel up. I clarified with the rep that I would only be charged for the top off at $3.82 a gallon. I never would have signed had the full, true details been told to me. Customer service is no help at all.

Pros: The lady that assisted us us at check in seemed to be out out to answer any questions we had. . She said that the insurance we purchased online did not cover the vehicle through them. We ended up paying an additional $275 dollars!!!!! I WILL NEVER RENT THROUGH KAYAK OR FROM DOLLAR RENT A CAR AGAIN.

Pros: The drop off was inefficient. Dollar returns were being ahndled by Hertz. I didn't have anybody come up to me and the car and try to help me check out upon my arrival. Onstead, 25 minutes after my return, they checked out the car while there were very few cars in the return lot. This resulted in assessment of an unfair extra hour of rental to me, which they asessed to me and was entirely THEIR fault.Cons: Check out up9n return is inefficient with nobody to really work on my return immediately. Delays in return process are not acceptable and result in deceptive charges to customers.

Pros: The manager resolved the problem by finding a substitute car, and providing a discount.Cons: The car smelled like cigarette smoke. When I went back to the counter to reject the car, the homosexual clerk, as a typical immoral anarchist, was EXTREMELY rude, argumentative, and unhelpful. I had to make a pest of myself before he fetched the manager. The manager was very professional and provided a substitute car, and a discount.

Pros: The car drove nicely. I liked being able to drop it off at a place other than where I picked it up.Cons: Customer service at SAN was bad. After waiting in a long line to complete the paperwork I had to wait in another to get out of the lot. The gentleman, read sarcastically, was very rude and didn't want to hear about the dents and scratched on the car rented to me. He wanted me to take it as is or wait at the back of the line. Only by refusing to move was I allowed to fill out the paperwork. Please hire more people for SAN office.

Cons: Upon completion of my reservation with kayak, it gave me a complete price w/ taxes and fees included. Upon arrival to puck up rental they charged me an additional $7 sighting only the base price is guaranteed and that additional fees could be charged that kayak was unaware of and i would need to take it up with kayak.com. If this is true, i could not find any disclaimer on kayak website to the fact. If its says s total with taxes and fees then that should be the price with no suprise charges upon arrival.

Pros: That location was massively understaffed. I went in for my rental at 2, but didn’t leave until 3. The poor staff was extremely professional, but clearly very stressed out. The first car they gave me kept telling me there was no “key” in the car, and I could not track a single employee down to help me. Eventually, they swapped the car out, but I ended up missing my appointment due to the hour delay.

Pros: The rate. The first office counter experience. The car.Cons: The car had an almost empty fuel tank. We reported this at the check-out counter and the representative seemed to enter this information into their system. I verbally confirmed that we need to bring the car with an almost empty fuel tank. Upon return, the tank had around 2 more gallons than at checkout. The receiving representatives were unfriendly and moreover they charged a $50+ fuel service fee without notifying me. Thankfully, I checked the receipt. I was told to go to the booth in the garage. The representative in the booth started with suggesting that I'm mistaken and the tank was most probably full. Thankfully again, I had taken the picture of the dashboard at the pick-up and showed it to them. I was planning to let go of the extra gasoline we had in the tank, but the bad attitude and unfriendly manner of the representatives so far made me upset and I demanded a reimbursement. Thankfully they were reasonable enough for refund and reimbursement. In short, a better check-out-in system and friendly and customer-oriented representatives can help a lot here.

So I had to rebook - from Budget directly - at a cost $150 more than the original, promised offer. The whole thing cost me more than twice the quoted price because they slapped me with all these bullshit insurance charges that the website made it seem like we’re included. I’m only using less shady companies from now on.

Pros: Staff was friendly and as helpful as possible.Cons: However the first place we had our rental for was a nightmare. We called the national line and they said they had our car ready, but the local place didn't have it so I had to scramble for a few hours. They told me I needed to go to a different Avis but that Avis never picked up the phone as I called for 2 hours straight. eventually I had to use a backup reservation I made for 2 days, but I only needed the car for 1 day, so I ended up paying $150 more than I needed to. One of the local staff people said that Priceline does not have accurate counts of cars that are available so my suggestion is that Avis and Priceline stop working together because it causes problems for the consumer, where they fix the issue.

Cons: Offer wasn’t clear location did not include transportation from to airport, so had to eat that cost separately obliterating any savings discount. Also access to parking garage failed and office did not open at posted start time so had no help to drop off after sneaking into garage on piggyback of a condo resident, then had to park in avis shuttle slot since avis section of garage was locked closed by a chained gate.

Pros: New Vehicle, Quick drop offCons: Pick up at 10am. No one at the counter until 10:15. Given a vehicle that ran out of oil (0%) during the trip. Called AVIS customer service. They told me I could either buy oil and bring the receipt to get reimbursed or I could go to a AVIS location and exchange the vehicle. I went to an AVIS location and was told there were no vehicles available and to just buy some oil to fill it up until the trip was over. Finally got back to the original location and they told me that I had to speak to the manager on the phone in order to handle my case. Would've preferred not having to go around in circles

Pros: The clerk was awesome. My issue is that my original rate was not honored! I reserved a vehicle for San Diego Airport online at an affordable rate. When we arrived (after a long day of travel) we were told the address for the reservation wasn’t for SAN, but a location nearly an hour away!!Cons: Our quoted rate should be honored and the website should be MUCH clearer on locations. In fact I would appreciate a refund of the difference in the higher price I ended up paying!

Pros: Staff at San Diego was helpful - the gentleman offered me an upgrade and when I hesitated he lessened the fee. However, surprisingly, when I received the invoice, he had not lessened the fee. Therefore the billing at head office and the contracted rental agreement did not match. The Van Nuys drop off was a disaster - the guy was not present, he finally returned my v/m after I waited more than 20 minutes, told me to leave the keys with another company and I was charged another full day although the vehicle was returned on time. I only found out about the extra charges because of my credit card statement.Cons: 1. The San Diego office staff intentionally or accidentally provided 2 different billing amounts which is deceitful or incompetent. 2. Van Nuys guy was not even present at the building. He intentionally or arbitrarily added an extra amount. Extremely bad customer service.

Cons: When I arrived they told me my vehicle was not ready at the designated time I specified to pick up. The representative offered me a Toyota RAV4 instead. I decided to wait. Furthermore, Later when the vehicle was ready It was not the agreed upon Mercedes or similar class. The Sixt representative offered to “upgrade” for 500$ to a Range Rover. I declined. After waiting The vehicle they provided was a Volvo V60.

I booked a car at Hertz 2745 Otay Pacific Drive San Diego, CA. on the website Operating Hours Mon - Sun open 24 Hours I booked a car to pick up at 9:00 PM Thursday Oct 22nd, I came on time, no one at counter, I called and waited until some one speaking English to help me. He told me to come back Friday Oct 23rd Morning at 8 AM, I did but no one at counter to help me and waited for 10 mins one lady appeared she could not keep my reservation because the reservation 9 PM of Thursday ridiculous no one help me to get my rental car, office closed at 8 PM.Cons: I suggest Kayak don't connect car reseravation for customers at location: 2745 Otay Pacific Drive San Diego, CA. They are not doing well as Hertz Agency as a role of Car Rental Center. I am very disappointed with their service, I feel like I come to the Rental Car Center in the Third Word Country. I will never and never come to rent a car at: 2745 Otay Pacific Drive San Diego, California.

Pros: The center was closed when I got there at 8:15pm on Thursday. The website and every confirmation email I received indicated that the place was open 24 hours a day. There was no indication that the timings had changed. I spent close to $100 going to the location and back to San Diego airport where I had to make a last minute rental which was much more expensive. I will not be renting through Hertz again.

Cons: I arrived at the San Diego airport to find that Economy Car rental had closed its San Diego location 4 months prior. I book the reservation 48 hours prior to arrival. So my reservation was made to a closed location. Luckily, another rental car company was able to assist me with a vehicle, bit at a much higher rate.

Pros: Nothing about this experience was pleasant.Cons: They have no idea how to provide customer service. Awful experience from end to end. Charged me the taxes and fees for an upgrade that I only needed because they didn't have the vehicle I reserved. Moved locations with no notification so I had to arrange another shuttle after taking the shuttle to the rental car facility. Couldn't get a hold of them to get a shuttle so I waited on the phone for 30 minutes trying to connect with someone who could help me. Never, ever rent from this company unless you want to experience an adventure just to get your vehicle.

Was not able to pick up the car because when I contacted the phone number on my reservation Eric was his name, he said that the Economy Rental car was already closed and it was around 8 to 8:30pm. We were stuck there with no rental car. We had to look for another rental company which was so inconvenient for us. VERY POOR RENTAL CAR COMPANY. Never again will do business with them.Cons: Never again will reserve a car with them.

Pros: The car was Clean and worked fine . However, I reserved a full-size car a day in advance. When I got there they had no full size cars available .Cons: When I went to pick up my full size car . That I made reservation for, there were none . The employees trued to give me a compact car. They also told me that I will have to pay for the full size car price , because kayak is a third party and they already have my money. Which was a bunch of crap.

Pros: Drop off was easy and the shuttle to the airport was easyCons: The rental company was not open at 7 AM when I arrived. I called Fox to see what was going on and how I could pick up the car and the hold wait time was longer than an hour. Finally I found someone upstairs from Fox who said that I needed to go downstairs to check in because she doesn't handle checkins, but THERE WAS NO ONE DOWNSTAIRS, LIGHTS WERE OUT. She finally checked me in after I went on a wild goose chase, and I was given a car that was nothing like the one I had booked. I ended up getting in a car by 8 am and was late for my flight. On top of that, I was quoted $67 for the day and still have a $208 charge on my card. Needless to say this was an abysmal experience.

Pros: The car was fine, drop off was easyCons: The staff at pick up was rude and need customer service training. My flight landed late and the pick up office was closed (there was no mention of closing times when I booked rental). I had to rent from another company for one day (extra $ out of pocket) and come back the next day to pick up the car for the remainder of my 2 day rental. The associate told me he couldn’t reopen and that he’d create a new reservation for another $50. I got upset and told him that I wanted the car that I already paid for for the one additional day and that I refused to pay anything additional, since I had already paid for two days. He became defensive and rude and eventually opened up my original reservation and gave me the car I already paid for. Why couldn’t he do that from the start? Why did it have to escalate and have to exchange words? I’ve rented from other places and they will help you find solutions rather than trying to get more money out of you. There was no customer service etiquette or empathy for the situation, but was met with defensive remarks and anger for telling him that I wouldn’t pay more money for a reservation I already had due to them closing before my plane got in.

Pros: When I needed to exchange my vehicle due to a minor mechanical issue, it was fast and simple.Cons: When I arrived to pick up my vehicle there was no one in sight. When I finally found someone there was no greeting of any kind. But the agent was very rude handed me the keys and she walked out to continue her smoking, but did not direct me to the location of the vehicle. I had to read the signs to findout where their vehicles were parked and started walking down the aisle and hitting the alarm button to see which van would beep. And viola I found my rental. Horrible service when I picked up my rental but the agent I worked with when exchanging my vehicle was excellent.

Cons: The agent at the counter lied to us and told us the insurance was required in California. Then when I questioned him bc the screen I had to initial said it was optional, he moved me to the next screen on his own so I could not read it anymore. He then tried to back track and say the conversation was recorded so I needed to confirm that I understood what he meant. The first rental we got was old, not comparable to the car promised to us at booking and the alarm went off every time we opened the car door. We had to go back and return the vehicle for a different one. Never again will I rent from them.

Cons: Fine print deep in the local terms and conditions restricted miles for local renters. I rented a car with unlimited miles and they wouldn’t honor it. So after waiting over an hour in line with only 3 customers in front of me, they refused to honor my rental agreement and I ended up renting from another company. Save your money and time, the customer service is awful and they simply will try to swindle you, especially if you book through kayak or Priceline.

Pros: The price at first..Cons: I tried to see if it was possible to cancel because I was experiencing Covid symptoms, so I wad advised to stay home and quarantine. I had to cancel my flight as well. I did leave a voicemail about 2 days before the trip but it went straight to a VM. 3 days Later, I have yet to recieve a phone call. I would much rather have chosen a more well known Rental like Dollar, Budget, Avis ..etc, and pay a couple dollars more, and have a live agent answer the phone or return my call at the least, within a reasonable time frame.

Cons: Booked a van pickup 5pm and drop off at same time 2 days later. The day off, 3 hours before pickup, I get a phone call from the location telling me I need to pickup an hour early because they decide to close at 4 “today”. Of fine. “Oh and also you need to drop off before 10am in 2 days because we will be closed at 10am”. “Or you can pay an extra $60 for late drop off”. What?? Late drop off would mean I extend pass my 24h, which I’m not!! If you decide to close early how does that become my problem?? Very disappointing.

Cons: Booked a van for 2 days w/ 150 mile per day. Arrived at location to be told that policies “of this specific branch” have changed and are now 150 “per rental” (!!!??) Long story short it’s obvious Non sense. Worker at location didn’t show any compassion and on the phone corporate couldn’t do anything because “we are reservation center and customer center only works week days”. Customer service non existent, bummer for loyal and respectful customers like us but I guess that’s the way it goes now.

Cons: Poor attitude. Had to wait for an hr and dealt with screw you attitude from the front desk. The place was dirty and shady. The van was old (60k + miles) and dirty. It was conveniently near the airport so that is a plus. Most of all is the lady at the front desk who was awful.

Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful. The drop off was super easy. We had a terrific vehicle for the cost.Cons: Didn't love that we had to go to the transit center for rentals & from there take another van (that we had to call & wait for). Also, we had to return by 2 or be charged extra to return it later to a different location (it was a Sat)- those were the only downsides to an otherwise great experience.

Never rent from this placePros: Nothing.Cons: It was a bait and switch in that I seriously doubt they even own a Corolla or similar economy car. Granted, they weren’t going to raise the price....but then the car they were trying to give me (after an interminable wait) was actually a huge dirty van...that had very significant damage from having been sideswiped. We are talking major body damage. So yeah, no thanks. Place is godawful. And they have signs everywhere about how you really need the insurance because this would cost X and that would cost Y. (Maybe take the money you earned from the sideswiping job and spend it on the needed body work?). Pretty ominous, and give everything else I’d seen of this company...but yeah, trying to drive around the city (parallel park, etc.) in a huge damaged dirty van? No thanks.

Pros: Overall it was a great deal for the Van. Only we had to pay an extra $100 because we dropped it off in LA and I didn’t realize this until we made our final payment. The staff was very nice and accommodating during the pick up process. We had no problem riding the shuttle to the rental car area but it was a little confusing because the van rental is off site so we had to take another van ( which the number was there to call for a pick up) this might need to be disclosed in the advertisement.

Pros: "Upgraded" us to a minivan, which I had no use for and made parking slightly less convenient. Not much to praise. Obviously you go with these folks (or equivalent) because of cost.Cons: Pleasant enough agent. Tried to up-sell on the pre-paid fuel but the "convenience" would have added $20 to the bill ... and I'm here because spending money on rental cars is not a form of entertainment. Just keep expectations low and you'll be fine.

Once and never againPros: Basically nothingCons: Car I had contracted for was not available, offered me a minivan instead, not interested, was traveling by myself and wanted fuel economy. Agent said that I could return the next day to swap out for something more appropriate, but, due to my schedule, it would have taken me a whole day's drive to come back for the swamp...As an alternative, I asked if I could swap cars in Phoenix, which would have fit my itinerary better, was told there would be an upcharge for such. Else wanted to upcharge me for a more desirable model, I declined. Stood my ground, eventually, an economy type car was returned and assigned to me. It was noisy, lacked cruise control, a/c was very weak, as in "no fun to drive". To make up for the inconvenience, I was told I would be given a discount from my original intermediate type car reservation, however, that did not happen, they just hit my credit card with the full charge for the larger vehicle I never go to drive. When returning the car, their station was closed, with zero indication as to when they would open in the a.m. like was posted on their competitor's return stations. When I tried to return the car to their Phoenix location, I was told it was impossible to drop the car off there even though their San Diego agent had told me I could do so if willing to pay a penalty for doing so - basically one of their agents lied, no idea which one. All in all a lousy experience, since I now have to file a complaint to get them to correct the charge to my credit card account.

Cons: Car was not cleaned out when I received it. There was trash under the seats, some wrappers in the trunk and side doors. It was evening when I picked up so I didn't notice until the next morning. The car smelled faintly of stale food, so they clearly did a poor job cleaning overall. The customer service was rude and impatient. At least the pick-up and drop off had reasonable efficiency.

Over-priced and dishonestCons: Pacific charged me twice as much as they estimated on Kayak. If that had been the extent of it, I may have left it alone. The day after I returned my car, however, the manager called to tell me that there is a "new scratch" on the front bumper. The car they rented to me was already scratched up, so I assumed he had gotten something confused and I could simply send the pictures I had snapped of the car before driving away from the lot. He sent me pictures of a car I'm not convinced is the car I rented, with a big scratch in the bumper, and asked that I have my lawyer call him. I have never felt so mistreated by a company. I'm certain that I had nothing to do with a scratch in the car I rented, and after consulting Yelp I noticed that Pacific has pulled this same stunt with at least one other customer. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.

the worstPros: nothingCons: When we got to the place we were being helped by a woman and she was going through all the information and everything was fine. then about 2 min in another man comes out and says "this is only for local, this is only for local." we were like ok and kept going. then the man starts to talk over the lady that is helping us and eventually kicks the lady off of the computer and takes over. The man ask if all I have is a debit card and I tell him yes. He then says there is a $600 deposit. Let me say that again a 2-day rental at $38 and he wanted a $600 deposit. Now my mom who was with me used to work at Hertz car rental down the street and knows the industry. I am in school studying to be a lawyer. I asked the man to show me ANYWHERE ON MY CONFIRMATION EMAIL OR ANY LINK WHERE THERE IS A $600 DEPOSIT. He could not show me anything anywhere. I hold his company Pacific and your company as well responsible for doing business with a company of this sorts. I hope that my treatment was not because of my skin color, but I still do not know why this man had to insert himself into my transaction in the first place, and he could not show me anything in writing in regards to a $600 deposit.

Cons: This company will lie and switch prices on you upon arrival and all these costs that were not shown on site on initial booking. I chosen supplier choice only to be sorry we overbooked and there is no more economy and compact cars. I did not see anywhere that it states only those vehicles. They pretty much told me pay the extra cost or cancel the reservation. Completely frustrated as this was an off-site location and I was pressed on time I paid the additional cost for another vehicle which cost me double what I had anticipated.

Pros: I like the ease of working with the airport car rental center staff. They were able to adjust my pick up location from downtown to right there at the rental center and it cost me a little less than anticipated. The third party insurance presented some questions at the counter, but nothing that could not be resolve in seconds. I would use Kayak in future travel plans.Cons: I didn't like the fact the add stated it was at the airport and there was an airport shuttle. The San Diego airport (Lindbergh Field) has a rental car center for all rental car companies. The add was for the downtown location and the shuttle only transports to the airport rental center. Also, the airport rental center is MCAR which is also MIDWAY

Just okayCons: Even though the car was cleaned when I arrived, and I had to wait for this cleaning, it was quite dirty once all the water dried. The windshield in particular had a thick film on the inside. It also smelled like smoke even though they supposedly don't let renters smoke in their vehicles. Once I cleaned it up myself and aired it out it was a okay car for a couple days. Probably wouldn't rent from them again as the price was the same as other rentals but I have never had a car that needed me to clean it from other agencies.

Not given a specific time to drop off (the person behind counter said,"so around this same time?" To which I said yes), yet when I dropped it off in the early afternoon (around the same time), I was charged for an extra day ($14.50). But even with that and now the more taxes I paid on the "extra day" it doesn't add up to $30. So where is the rest of my money? Will go with the larger company next time to save the hidden fees..

Rediculous WaitPros: The car was clean and in good working order. The attendant was polite and very patience. But really?, one attendant 3 days before Christmas?Cons: I had a reservation for a full size car, as my family was all meeting in California for the holidays. The reservation was set to pick up the car at 6:00 PM. I arrived at 5:55. When I arrived there were two people in front of me. Neither of which spoke english. The attendant tried and tried to explain the rental agreements while I waited. I waited for one hour for him to process two customers. When it was finally my turn, he informed me there were no full size cars available and that the car had to be cleaned. At that point, I was pretty upset. I had to wait another 20 minutes for the car to be cleaned. In all, the transaction took over 90 minutes and I did not get the car size I reserved. And for what?, to save a few dollars over one of the majors? I am very disappointed Kayak would recommend such a terrible 3rd tier car rental agency. Lorrin

Pros: Staff were talking about internal issues (employee not returning and renting a car correctly) for about 3 minutes before acknowledging and helping me. Then had to wait while they figured out which car was available and was told they couldn’t rent it because they car had technically not been returned in the system. They eventually spoke with employee that did not return car and returned it in system with an override. The company then started cleaning the car and I had to wait about 5 minutes for it to be “wiped down.” The license plates were expired and there were spill stains on 3 out of 4 mats. There was also sand in back seat and passenger seats and floors; it was not vacuumed. The tires were very worn.Cons: Returning the car was quick and simple. The car had no problems mechanically and smelled clean.
