Pros: The car was great. Clean, ran well.
Cons: Okay, so we were only shorted 1 gallon. Still. It put a sour taste in our mouths. When we picked up the car the agent asked us if we would like to upgrade from our current midsize car to one with air conditioning and cruise control. When we asked if our car didn't already have those amenities, we were told, "Well... it's a midsize." We declined the upgrade, got to our vehicle, and discovered that midsize cars do indeed have cruise and air. Poor class, Alamo.

Cons: We reserved an SUV, and arrived late at night. They said to take any SUV, but there were none on the lot so I went back to the desk. They said take one from National next door, so we went back out. No SUV's. They then said to take any car in the National Emerald row. There was one SUV there. The whole process took about twenty minutes, plus thirty in line to exit the lot.

Cons: My only issue with Alamo is the distance one has to walk (not under cover) in Kansas City after you drop off the car. They have a new area still under construction but it was a VERY LONG walk in the cold to reach the transfer area.

Pros: Service great, not crazy about the Chysler. Would prefer the Corolla next time or another more user-friendly model.
Cons: Downgraded to a smaller car. Literally take it or leave it. All other companies sold out. Car was dirty, smelled of smoke, and scratched all over. Absolutely horrible customer service and will never use dollar rent a car KC again.

Dollar is cheap, but at what cost?
Cons: Hidden fees. The insurance and "courtesy fees" resulted in a final price that was DOUBLE the estimate.
Despite the fact that you can make reservations for the early morning hours, they close at midnight.

Cons: The economy car I was given did not have room for more than two suitcases, the driver seat only had forward and backward adjustment not up and down.The exterior mirrors could not be adjusted from the driver seat. I asked to exchange the car for something better,, but all they had was a manual transmission. I had to go to another agency and pay a higher price because I had not ordered ahead of time. Horrible experience.

Cons: Avis did not honor the price agreed on Kayak, but the price was still reasonable. KAYAK offer was "$116" and Avis insisted on $140 after starting at $232, which i objected to. Don't like having to re-negotiate at the counter when price is in the email confirmation.

Pros: I loved how quickly I was able to secure the rental at a great price.
Cons: I didn't like the fact that I couldn't identify what the $45 charge actually covered so I believe I ended up paying double for some portion of the insurance because I could identify exactly what that fee covered...even after reading the email.

Pros: Everyone was friendly
Cons: My reservation was at a different location. So I ended up cxl the first res and going to the counter. The gentleman tried to charge me $385, then $285, and then I booked it for $136 online for same rental. I have a newborn with me and just felt like they weren't very helpful after a long day of travel and traveling w an infant alone and with luggage.
I tried to extend for 3 hours and ended up paying for an extra day. I was charged for gas when I filled it up right around the corner. So then I had to go to the counter again to resolve that issue.
Just felt like they could have been a tad more compassionate and accommodating.
I'll think twice before renting w Avis again.

Pros: It was easy to pickup and drop off the vehicle.
Cons: The Fiesta I was given had mechanical issues. During the first few miles of driving it, it became obvious the dampers in the MacPherson struts were excessively worn. Any irregularities in the road cause the pitch multiple times before it finally damped out. Due to this issue, I exchanged the car at my first destination. I took the car and went on my way. At highway speeds, there was a vibration coming from the wheels. I found they were worn excessively. Although they we just at the wear indicator, they were highly scalloped.
Pros: I was happy about the ease to get the rental.
Cons: I was unhappy with the cost. It was so different than what was projected on Kayak.com

Cons: When I picked up my car the guy left me out in the parking lot while he flirted with a female customer. I was within ear shot and he was offering her free upgrade and was being very unprofessional. He offered me an upgrade at a cost. I asked why the ladies was free and he wouldn't comment.

Pros: Enterprise is great to work with.
Cons: Kayak ripped me off $57 on a 2 day rental because when I booked my rental online it asked if you wanted insurance coverage. Of course I want insurance to cover damage to the car, but that is not how it works. If you buy the insurance from Kayak and you get in an accident, then Enterprise goes after your personal insurance then you have to recoup the costs from Kayak. Enterprise does not honor Kayaks online insurance. So I paid for insurance twice to cover my 2 day rental. Ridiculous!!

Pros: Decent rate.
Got a complimentery gps unit on second car.
Cons: First car was smoked in.
Second car had a misadjusted headlight and an inop fog light.
Drop off location closed early, forcing us to keep car overnight instead of dropping off when we wanted to.
Couldn't get anyone on the phone until I tried roadside emergency number.

Fixed problem quickly and to my satisfaction.
Pros: Hertz immediately apologized, assigned a new car and upgraded me to next bigger size vehicle. It was fine.
Cons: The car that was parked in my assigned space was parked there in error. When I drove out of the lot, the attendant told me I had to go back in to the rental desk to get it straightened out. That was a pain, I was on my way and then had to take my suitcase and everything back in and get a different car assigned.

Pros: Everything went smoothly with this rental. The shuttle ride from the airport required no waiting and was brief. When picking up the car I was not subjected to great efforts to "up-sell" anything, and the agent was friendly and efficient. The car was fine, and the drop-off also was quick and efficient.

Cons: picking up trash off the floor of the car and glove box.
Cons: Despite booking a compact car ahead of time and calling to confirm, the only thing they had available when we landed was an SUV. We ended up needing to use a different vendor and pay more last minute.

Not a good car or experience
Cons: I forgot to fill up my tank because I had an emergency and was running late to my flight. The charged me over $9 per gallon to fill up my tank half way. $75.
Also the tires were bald on the car.
Cons: Instructions for returning the car were not clear (there was no attendant receiving returns when I arrived: do we leave the key in it or return it to the desk?) but this was answered quickly.

Great service, great price, great car
Pros: The service at the rental counter was very friendly, and the car was exactly as advertised. The car was very new (less than 3000 miles), and in perfect condition. The price was less than the other companies in the same rental car center at KCI.
Cons: Nothing, it was a good experience all the way.

Pros: Staff was courteous
Cons: I chose Payless because on kayak it stated it was located in the airport and I paid more assuming I didn't have to take a shuttle off site. All car rentals were offsite so not worth paying more. I was disappointed that kayak didn't have updated info.
Separate issue.... When returning the vehicle, they said I should go inside and wait in line for a receipt. This is the only car rental company that doesn't use a handheld device to print receipt for customer in the parking lot. Get with the times!!

Pros: The Ford Fusion hybrid rode nicely. I inadvertently booked a car in the wrong city. Staff corrected my error and was able to get me a car in a couple of minutes.
Cons: Friendly but Slow service on return of rental car. Sticker shock on rental price. The rental rate did not include taxes online. I got sticker shock when picking up the car.

odd time policies, lovely drop-off staff
Pros: When I dropped the car off the attendant was extraordinarily pleasant and helpful. And the car was super clean!
Cons: My flight arrived early and so I arrived at the counter at 1:56 with a 2 pm reservation. I was told I would be charged extra for early pick up... no one was able to override the system that, apparently, required this charge... so I sat and waited the 4 minutes to be able to pick the car up to avoid being charged nearly $20. This seemed like a petty, utterly unnecessary requirement in the midst of a busy day.
Pros: The guy at the check in counter was very very although at drop off they were closed so we used the drop box.
Cons: I switched from dollar to Ace because for the same price is get a full size car opposed to an intermediate car. Well Ace full size cars are a tiny little Kia that was smaller than the corolla I would've gotten at Dollar for same price. Also the car smelled of smoke really bad and was bothersome the entire week. Not a good experience and I would make a different choice next rental that will not be Ace.
