Top tips for hiring a car at Bakersfield Meadows Field airport

  • On your next flight to Kern County, California, consider booking a car rental at Meadows Field Airport (BFL), so you can explore the region on your own terms. With a rented automobile, you get in the driver's seat immediately after deboarding the aircraft. Unlike shuttles that are relatively far from BFL premises, rental cars are parked on site. Grab your keys at one of the three parking lots reserved for car rental companies.
  • From Highway 99, exit at the 7th Standard Road and turn east. Keep walking for about 1.5 miles, following the arrivals signs. On the right side are the baggage claim area and the pick-up counters where to grab the keys. The car lot is about 200 feet from the baggage claim area. Provide your driver's license and take the pre-printed documents with all the terms and conditions. The return location is at the same address for pick-up (3701 Wings Way, Bakersfield, CA 93308). Of course, you can’t always return the car during working hours. For after-hours return, park and lock the vehicle, then place the keys and the contract form in the drop box. When returning the car after midnight, you can count on security guards at the rental center to open the door for you. Plus, there is always a key person or manager to escort you to the car park.
  • Bakersfield has its charms and fun things to do. And you're probably wondering if your car rental at Meadows Field Airport offers unlimited mileage. It is possible to book a car with unlimited mileage through KAYAK. After all, you want to see all your desired attractions without restrictions regarding the distance you can cover. Check out the best deals for mileage and book as early as possible to start making plans for your Bakersfield getaway.
  • A rental company usually requires renters to present credit cards or debit cards with sufficient funds to cover a security deposit and any applicable charge not covered in the prepaid voucher. Ensure you have a valid international credit card but avoid third-party cards because not all rental agencies accept such. Whether your mode of payment is approved or not is entirely up to the rental supplier.
  • Book your car hire at Bakersfield Meadows Field airport at least 1 day before your trip in order to get a below-average price

FAQs about renting a car at Bakersfield Meadows Field airport

  • Can another person drive my car rental at Meadows Field Airport?

Depending on the rental agreement, you may be allowed to have an additional driver. This means your loved one can drive the rented vehicle if they meet the required standards. First, confirm if there's an additional fee for this option at the counter. Each driver must have an original driver's license. An international driver's permit is recommended if the DL is not in the languages used by Meadows Field Airport car rental companies. The other important document for all drivers is an official identity card or passport.

  • What amenities are available in the car rental center at Bakersfield Meadows Field Airport?

Since the rental counters are within the premises of BFL Airport, the on-site cafes and bars also cater to car renters. Order some take-away or sit down to grab something at the eateries. Before riding in a rental vehicle, you are free to attend to your pet's needs at the pet comfort station near the car park. Remember to buy yourself or a loved one some goodies at a gift shop next to the car rental center.

  • Do you need insurance before renting a car at Meadows Field Airport?

Personal safety is crucial, and so is insurance coverage. However, car rental providers are not obligated to evaluate your existing coverage and its adequacy. So, before you rent a car at BFL Airport, inquire from your insurance provider whether you are covered while riding on a rental vehicle. If you are afraid your existing policy doesn't cover your travel through California, consider buying extra coverage through the car supplier. Beware of restrictions on large vehicles.

  • Which car rental companies will pick you up at Bakersfield Meadows Field airport?

Car rental companies that offer shuttle or pick-up services from Bakersfield Meadows Field airport to off-airport locations include Avis, Budget, Hertz, National, and Rent-A-Wreck.

Alberto was very friendly and punctual. I had left my car keys somewhere in the car and noticed it when I got back home. I got a call from Priceless they found my keys and will mail them the morning after. I have no words to express my gratitude. I have a gold medal that belonged to my Dad attached to the keys and it is the only thing I keep from him.

Bakersfield is very small. An independent agent handles Avis and Budget. There was no one at the rental counter when we arrived. We had to wait about 15 minutes for someone to get there. Once they got there the process was easy.

Friendly staff at the Bakersfield location. HOWEVER, the staff at the SLO airport was not friendly. He was passive aggressive when I forgot to bring in the mileage. He said, "Well, I told you in my voicemail message to bring it in so I didn't have to walk out to get it," which was rude. Customers are people with busy lives, too. Mistakes happen. And it's not such an inconvenience to walk out to the parking lot!
