When booking a car hire in Brno through KAYAK, a car with a navigation system is recommended, to help you navigate the city and other places you need to tour. The type of car you hire will depend on the places you plan to visit. If your tour will be around town and on highways, it will be better to hire a sedan or crossover that will be easy to drive in town and give you better fuel economy. If you intend to go off-road and for long drives to places like Obora Holedna, Brno Zoo, Punkva Caves and many others, it will be good to hire a compact SUV or 4x4 vehicle. Another determining factor when choosing a car to hire will be the number of friends and family members you are taking along. If you’re more than five people, you should hire a big car like a van.

The speed limit is 110 kph on the highway and 80 kph in settlement areas. In town, the speed limit is 30 kph and around schools, hospitals and other congested areas. While driving, be on the lookout for the signs on the roadside indicating the speed limit. Exceeding speed limits is an offence, punishable by law.

As you book your Brno car hire through KAYAK, it’s good to remember you will need a parking fee for where you will park. You will have to pay more to park near the city centre than further afield. Parking for visitors is divided into three zones. Zone A requires a parking permit, mostly around the historic city centre. Zone B, where parking is permitted for only 1 hour a day, you will be charged Kc 30 (A$ 1.75) for any extra hour you park. Then Zone C, where you can park for a whole day; the first hour is free, and you pay Kc 20 (A$ 1.20) for an extra hour.
