A good, basic option in downtown.
You get free parking, a clean room in a great location.
The room was a bit worn. It seemed a bit expensive for the quality of the room. I stayed here because my preferred option was fully booked. If I didn't have a car I would have used Hotwire and spent a just a little more to get a much nicer place without free parking.
Location to downtown Victoria. Diner was good value and good food.
Smelly stale room on arrival. Tatty appearance. Drawer bases totally broken. No air con.
It is a lovely place that has kept its original decor and traditions. It might be considered "old world" in the present day but is much loved by the those who have been visiting for years. You hear all the time from guests about the 20 or 30 years they have been coming there. The key issue is that it is close to downtown with adequate parking and the food is good home cooking.
Linens and pillows are thin, heating system is too high or too low, other guests toilets and showers are very audible. For the question below, I do recommend this hotel (and previously to the Commercial Travellers Association) but with qualifications per above.
we liked the location - close to all amenities.
Central location, cleanness.
Paul’s Motor Inn is a hotel evocative of a different time; opening for business in 1956, this hotel is what motorists would stop at with their families, since Victoria has built up. Paul’s has changed with the times and has many modern amenities encased in the 1950’s façade, but perhaps the greatest amenity it has is location as the hotel is a 5 minute walk from Victoria’s Chinatown, a 10 minute walk from Bastion Square, and within both walks are a ton of restaurants and attractions. There is also access to a bike rack and a copy center for business travelers in need as well.
Paul’s Motor Inn has 75 different rooms and they are divided into first floor rooms, city rooms, courtyard queen rooms, and executive rooms. It is only the first floor rooms that have a double bed, the rest of the rooms have single beds of differing sizes. The biggest difference besides the space is that executive rooms have a microwave. The other rooms lack a microwave, but they have an iron, ironing board, safe, mini-fridge, flat screen tv with satellite channels, and free Wi-Fi. One amenity that is really popular for the travelers is the Keurig coffee maker; travelers can bring their favorite K-Cups to the hotel for the perfect cup of coffee.
Paul’s Motor Inn is something really unique when traveling, staying at this hotel is certainly something that will be a great memory, especially for families. It is the perfect place to stay when enjoying Vancouver Island.
Policies vary by room type and provider.
