Pros: The employees at the Hampton at Montage Mountain couldn't have been nicer to us. All very pleasant and helpful, from letting my husband keep his bicycle in a safe place to giving us directions to Scranton the following morning.
Cons: My ONLY complaint is minor. The website booking described our room as having a view of the mountains -- only true if you leaned into the window and looked left past the car port directly in front of us.
Pros: Free breakfast was good.
Pros: Room was clean and staff was pleasant
Pros: Ease of location to highway.
Cons: Area looked old and tired.
Pros: With a family of five the included breakfast is a great plus.
Cons: Nothing. We weren't there long enough.
Pros: We spent one night during a extended car trip, it was easily accessible from the highway. Felt it was a good value for the money.
Cons: Feather pillows on the bed, my two asthmatic children cannot have them. I guess to others they are considered a luxury, to us they are a hazard.
Pros: Jacuzzi room we stayed in & the morning breakfast offerings were excellent.
Cons: Would have liked fresh strawberries & more blueberries for the fresh waffles. Also, needed a backup box of tissue in our bathroom. Thanks for asking.
Pros: The sheets and pillows were fabulous. The price was fantastic. The breakfast was healthy and good.
Pros: The breakfast is always good. The beds were comfortable, etc.
Pros: Location. Value. Breakfast.
Cons: Comforter too heavy. Would like the option of a lighter blanket.
Cons: No hot water until 5.30am each morning
Cleaning of room not great with sink left dirty
Cons: $15 for glass of wine
Wifi not working
Pros: Rooms were beautiful and smelled so nice!!! I'd definitely come back!
Pros: Staff was beyond excellent as the were extremely helpful and freindly.
The hotel provide a taxi to pick me up at the airport at 2am.
Pros: The room was clean, amenities more than fine for what I was staying for (just one night to crash after an event in Scranton), and looks like it would be a nice place to stay for a longer visit too. The in room coffee maker and fridge were great additions, and the Noon check-out time is nice for a late-riser like myself – even 11:00 can be a little early sometimes. And kudos to the front desk employee who helped change my night when I was checking in – I accidentally booked the wrong night online and didn't realize until I was in the lobby but he switched it no problem and with no additional fees!
Cons: Signage, the hotel is tucked up a driveway completely hidden from view from the road and the only sign they have is about the size of a Dunkin' Doughnuts drive-thru sign, on a dark road no less. There's a bigger sign once you get on the driveway obscured by trees but you can't see it from the road at all and I drove right by it the first time. They need a bigger and better lit sign so the driveway's easier to pick out, especially since there's two other Marriott brand hotels a stone's throw away up the road.
Pros: Love the old train station re-purposing. It's really a well kept and well run hotel. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable.
Pros: While we enjoyed the uniqueness of the train station turned hotel, we were impressed by the staff. From the desk clerks right down to the bartender, EVERYONE made us feel at home and bent over backwards to take care of our needs. Though I could use anyone as an example, I was particularly struck by the friendliness and professionalism of one of your longtime lady bartenders (whose name escapes me). I came quite late. Though she was probably thinking she would get out early, she bent over backwards to find out what I wanted. A few other regulars came in and she made a point of introducing us in the most engaging an appropriate way I have ever experienced in a Pennsylvania Hotel. I can see why this lady has been retained for 30 years and I only regret that I've forgotten her name as she deserves to be properly appreciated.
Cons: Not being able to get a receipt because I booked via Kayak with a service that you don't access directly.
Pros: The building was historic and located in a convienient area.
Cons: We booked with booking.com and the hotel had no record of our reservation. We found the prior persons dental floss in our room on the floor next to the bed. The worst part was hearing the music from the bar Kildares from across the street all night long...
Pros: Beautiful structure in a great location
Pros: I have been making an annual trip to Scranton, Pa for the last 15 years. I always stay at the Radisson Lakawanna. The lobby decor has been preserved ( beautiful marble, mosaics, and stained glass). The rooms have recently been redecorated - or are in the process. This is a welcome improvement.
The staff is friendly and helpful.
We love dining at Carmen's ( in the hotel). Good food at a reasonable price.
Pros: The refurbishment of the grand train station into a hotel is nearing completion and they have kept much of the details of the main station lobby. It feels grand, though I question some of their design choices (neon bright spot lights?)
Cons: The heating systems were off and on, including bouts of cold and hot water in the showers. The food at the grill and their main restaurant was Okay, but nothing to get excited about.
Pros: The hotel is in a historic train station. Wonderful restoration.
Cons: I arrived early, so the room was not ready. Okay, I was told I would get a call on my mobile phone when a room was ready. That call never came. As the normal check-in time approach, I returned to the hotel to find that my room had been ready but that no one had found the time to call me.
Pros: The rooms were very large, beds very comfortable. The hotel lobby was very elegant and the old train terminal atmosphere was very cool.
Cons: The bathroom was renovated with a stone vanity and very nice tile, but they used a very crappy tub surround.
Pros: Staff was great. Also loved that the indoor pool was open until late.
Pros: The distance it was from the location I needed to be at the next day.
Cons: When I arrived at the hotel, the staff stared at me for a good minute before someone came over to help. No one offered to help me with my luggage, but I was told to go down the hall for a luggage cart. The rooms were dirty and needed renovating.
Pros: Location - close to shopping and restaurants. Rooms were large, beds comfortable. Breakfast was great. Staff was very friendly.
Pros: The staff was polite and courteous.
Pros: Close by where we needed to be and a spacious room
Pros: Very nice and spacious room. Even for one night it seemed nice to have some extra room.
Cons: I liked everything.
Pros: The rooms were very clean, the microwave in the room had Out of Order taped to it, other than that it was excellent. Pools was nice too. Location was easy on/off highway.
Pros: location, Cleanliness, Staff
Cons: I had 2 major issues and 1 minor issue that I presented to management/front desk when I checked out. Terrible bed needed replacement. Shower rod needed repair or replacement. refrigerator needed repair.
Pros: Clean room, comfortable bed and pillows. The room was super spacious I would definitely stay again.
Cons: The microwave was broken and they were renovating but that was not a deal breaker for me because we only stayed one night.
my room was on the end on the 3rd floor and the hotel sign was bright white shining into the room, even with the shades closed. Rooms are dated and old. bed was lumpy. Great shower though.
Cons: the rooms are dated and old. not as clean as i expected for this brand.
My room had a gas fireplace. Excellent surprise. Also the free breakfast was way above average.
Pros: The room was clean and seemed to be fresh/new. The beds were very comfortable check in and out went well. The breakfast was simple. There was an indoor pool that was open late and seemed fairly clean.
Cons: The pool was lacking chairs. There were several broken toys that should have either been replaced or thrown away.
Pros: For the good, first would be the beds and pillows. They were very comfortable and I slept well each night. The room was neat and clean. The public parts of the hotel were well kept and inviting. The location of the hotel was decent, only about a mile from downtown. It's an easy ride to downtown as well.
I read several negative reviews of the on site restaurant. Although I only had breakfast there, I would disagree with those reviews. The breakfast menu pretty standard for the north. The food was prepared well. The service was quick, without feeling rushed. Our server was pleasant and engaging. And I felt that the pricing was comparable to what you would at an off site diner. Definitely not gouging.
Cons: There were only a few minor quibbles I had with the hotel. The walls were pretty thin. There was family with children in the next room. I knew this because I could hear the children well into the evening. It didn't bother me or keep me up, but I was aware of it. In fact, they may have had the worse if it as I am a snorer. Secondly, though clean and functional, the bathroom looked as if it could use a refresh. And lastly, the hot tub could have been a bit warmer.
As I said, these were minor quibbles. Overall, I was pleased with my stay at the hotel.
Pros: Nice clean room. I had a very comfortable stay.
Cons: The hotel walls are quite thin. Could hear a good bit of hall noise.
Pros: Rooms were clean, I give amenities a 9
Cons: Not enough restaurants/shopping in the area. No fault to the hotel but, we had to drive abt 15 mins away to an area with a mall and restaurants.
Cons: I was told my room was not available when I went to check in at 11pm.
Pros: Friendly staff.
Cons: Housekeeping did not check my room on the second day; SPG would not credit points for my stay due to having booked it through a Kayak.
Pros: Room was kept clean.
King bed was comfortable.
Desk staff were very nice in general, and great about extending my stay another night without an upcharge.
Good workout room.
Conveniently located near I-81.
Cons: Lacks fridge or microwave access.
One only elevator was operating, which had been the case for nearly a month. They're expecting the issue to be resolved by July '15.
Pros: We thought that the remodeling that had been done was very nice and up to date. It had a relaxed modern feel to it.
Pros: The hotel is very well landscaped with mature plants. The loby is nicely constructed. The room was very comfortable.
Cons: The pool was closed.
Cons: Still waiting to correct an erroneous room charge.
Pros: The staff were friendly and accommodating.
The location was good for my needs.
Cons: The back entrance door did not lock - unsafe.
The room was not well cleaned.
The heating unit control on the wall had goop on it.
The "continental breakfast" was just very sad; cereal and dry bread and bagels.
Pros: Super Nice
Pros: Close to where I needed to be.
Cons: Rooms are in need of an upgrade. Room was painted but was desperately in need of an upgrade. The mattress was hard and the pillows were only about two inches thick. Was a great hotel in it's prime but has really slipped over the years.
Pros: Staff did their best.
Cons: Noisy fridge in room, smell throughout hotel, everything dingy and worn out.
Cons: Smelly room, noisy, old and dirty. Remote-ish location. Desk attendant was not friendly. Free breakfast...nothing out toward the close of breakfas but not before the close...not even coffee!!
Cons: EVERYTHING HOTEL WAS DISGUSTING AND RUN DOWN I WANT MY MONEY BACK IT WAS NOT WHAT I PAID FOR. WOULDNT EVEN PAY 5 DOLLARS A NIGHT FOR THIS.
Cons: This place deserves negative stars. Left after 10 minutes. Keep my motherfuckin money. What a dump.
Pros: Staff was friendly, room was clean
Cons: Had to eat breakfast somewhere else..coffee machine was not working. Hotel in need of updating.
Pros: We stayed here for two nights and had a great time. The staff was helpful and nice, and the room was clean. Room came with TV, microwave, and mini fridge. Hotel is about 5-8 minutes from downtown Scranton but in a quiet area. We would stay here again!
