Very trendy shiek resort in heart of meatpacking. Extremely friendly staff, Malik at front desk was very accommodating. Roofdeck bar w pool and amazing views makes this a unforgettable stay
Best housekeeping staff I've ever experienced. The spa wasn't very clean. Sauna didn't work. Staff there seemed very untrained and a bit unprofessional, though nice.
The location was perfect. There was easy access to the city (NYC) No restaurant
The rooms are very nice and comfortable and the location is perfect for all of the great shopping & restaurants in the area.
Room size was nice and location was great. The hotel was decent, but for a hotel which is supposed to be a luxury boutique type hotel every corner of the room and bathroom was litter with a product they were trying to sell.
I loved the wireless connection. Bedding, space in the room, elevator staff. Simple things. I didn't care for the eggs at continental breakfast. But if that's all I'm complaining about.... I'm pretty well off.
Center of cool All good
Comfortable room. Space for sofa and 2 arm chairs in the room. Music in the lobby
Overal, I had a fantastic stay at the Gansevoorti would totally recommend itGREATservice/rooms/POOL.....
Location There was a drug party across the hall from us that went on from 4-6AM, culminating in a violent arrest that took 1 hour to consummate. Everything in the room was an upcharge -- no free drinking water or coffee?
The design and perfection of the room. The spa is on the lower ground floor although the hotel staff claim is operated by a separate company. The service at the spa didn't match that of the hotel, and its staff was incompetent and careless.
Location was perfect for pubs, clubs and eating out and was quite relaxing as you are away from the hustle and bustle of Midtown, would definatly stay there again, only down side and the roof top bar is fantastic The food and drink is quite expensive, they charge for also most everything, I would expect from a hotel of this standard to at least get free water
I loved this hotel! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, the rooms were cozy, and the bed was actually comfortable! The bathrooms, although shared, were clean and convenient. The location was perfect. Having my own individual AC unit to regulate the temp in my room was a definite bonus. I will be staying here again for sure!!
The location is its strongest point as it was walking distance to tourist attractions like 911 memorial Wall Street and just one subway to others like Times Square Rockefeller et al it was shared bathroom was really worried about that but truth be told they were sparkling clean at all times including the toilets. staff was friendly also Had this damp smell in the corridors plus the standard room was quite small but hey if all you need is just somewhere to lay your head after a hectic day of sightseeing and shopping or freshen up between sightseeing(s)- definitely the place to stay I mean it's good if stay-in is minimal plus the location is just very spot on.
Adorable little old-fashioned boutique hotel. We had a bunk bed room and it was still cozy. The showers were also great for being communal! Everything was perfect in our eyes.
I read the reviews before our stay and was pleasantly surprised at how lovely the entire experience was. The staff were all friendly and had a sense of humor. The room was small as expected, but we didn't plan on spending an extended time inside. The bathrooms were clean and there are two hair dryers so no need to pack one. We took bicycles out on one day and had a blast. The neighborhood is quiet although there is plenty to do. I would recommend The Jane to those traveling alone or as a couple. There is space for luggage but not much else. The photographs are an accurate representation of the rooms. The only negative was the mattress. Mine was lumpy but I slept fine. My companion did not notice anything with his so it may just be a personal preference.
Great in west village neighborhood close to everything & great shopping & restaurants! I brought my roller to help me walk around the city, stairs to get up from door and lobby sometimes inconvenient, staff always there to help but at times there should be a ramp or something like that I could get up to get around from street to lobby on my own.
Staff , the rooms, the amenities. The Wi-Fi was terrible
Welcoming staff, best value in Manhattan for a solo traveler. My cabin was shipshape when I arrived, and my bunk was comfortable all night. In the morning, a private shower/dressing room was ready when I was. The cafe was convenient, with French coffee, a French croissant, and French service (pleasant, but a bit blasé--French, you know). Merci bien. [This interface doesn't work on my iPad. Cannot uncheck items describing my visit.]
Rooms are very small, like ship cabins, but well-designed and solidly built. If you can adjust your expectations to the size (think "ship cabin"), it is quite enjoyable for short stays. Location is excellent (just 2 blocks from the Whitney, south end of the Highline Park, and meatpacking district. WiFi is reliable and solid. WiFi requires an annoying daily log in. Price is not cheap, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better deal in Manhattan.
cute hats retro fun good location quiet beds a bit uncomfortable couldn't find the shared bathroom(s) at first very small room
Love the location beautiful old building and great area the room was a slight small
I've stayed in several of New York's cheap hotels while on business. The Jane trumped them all on hospitality and cleanliness. The single room is charmingly arranged with wood paneling and brass decor. The shared bathrooms are stylish and always clean. The pastry shop downstairs makes great croissants, and the bar has a great vibe. Obviously the rooms are small (though well laid-out). It's also a little farther off the beaten path from a subway stop. No sinks in the room can be inconvenient, but the bathroom is nearby, so wasn't a problem.
Great staff, convenient restaurant and bar for the days you don't feel like going farther, functional and comfortable room. The room is small, but that's no different from similar hotels in the same area. Storage is a little minimal and not quite enough for all my clothes and I was alone and didn't have that much.
Great position. Quiet location. Very helpful staff. Nice feel to the place. The sharp corners on the bed frames were a bit painful on a few occasions.
Atmosphere, service. style, very chic and stylishly cozy. Bed super comfortable. Love free wifi. Great location- lots of good restaurants nearby. Try Rosemary. Room is a bit small so closet space is at premium. Not alot of space to put cosmetics in Bathroom.
Fabulous location, friendly and attentive staff, lovely large room, quiet On the weekend nights we couldn't use the public spaces as they had rented out the restaurant and people spilled into al the public places.
Nicely decorated , convenient location, good wifi signal Problem with room temperature, had to change room second night
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
quiet. No traffic, etc., noise. No coffee machine in room. tv reception-frequent and intermittent 'no signal available' for various channels.
No coffee in the room. Breakfast was not very tasty and overpriced ($25 for a coffee and omelet).
The staff were nice. The rooms were the size of a janitor's closet. They had no space for clothes (closet or drawers), so we kept everything in our luggage for the week long stay.
Location While I was at this hotel someone (another guest) entered my room with what appeared to be a room key! I was very concerned about my privacy and complained to the hotel. They also double charged me for my stay.
The overall character of the hotel was great. I loved the lobby, bar/restaurant, and location of the hotel. The room was quaint, but very small. The rooms were very small. It was fine for us because we didn't spend much time in it, but it was definitely close quarters for 2 people.
The location is excellent. Perfect for wandering around Soho and Greenwich Village. Leaving bags when arriving before check-in time was fine, but retrieving them later was very difficult -- staff member in charge of luggage could not be located and we waited a long time in the lobby for the clerk to decide to get another person to retrieve our bags.
Our room was very comfortable and clean. We felt the breakfast was average but did not like having to use plastic cutlery & dishes - a toaster for the bagels would have been good.
Great location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Good shower. Lots of nice bars and restaurants very close by. Nice decor. Breakfast was better than we expected from reviews and not crowded.
Location, location, location ~ hard to find hotels in this part of the City and we prefer it to the more touristy areas. There is a plethora of great restaurants, easy walks to the Hudson River Parkway, the High Line, the Whitney, and very convenient subway stations. Comfortable King bed and decent sized bathroom Able to control room temperature Clean Liked having the Keurig coffee in the room We had no complaints, other than how expense all hotels are in NYC. Our cost was about $333 per night. Don't get too excited about the free continental breakfast.
The Staff was extremely helpful and kind, letting me check in a little early and gave me a 1 hour later check out the next day too. The bed was crazy firm. Like ... maybe good for your back but sort of shocking. (full bed)
Great Greenwich Village location. Nice to have breakfast included. A very European crowd staying there.
It is close to SoHo and my son's office Small rooms and bathrooms
It was cheap. Great location on 14 th street and with a subway near the hotel. The personel were friendly and helpful. It was quiet and calm at the hotel, we were not bothered by any noise. The room was clean and had everything we needed: big comfortable double bed, an well functioning air conditioning, clean towels, refrigerator, freezer, sink, stove, pots, pans, glasses, a clock radio, cupboards, hangers and a dresser. The furniture were new (low quality, not ugly, just neutral), but the interior was old (a good thing) with wooden floor, white walls, high ceilings and with a large window out to a nice backyard with trees. The look of the hotel including our room was: rundown, but clean. It was New York in a lowbudget but very cool way! There were no mirror in our room. There were no elevator, but we lived in room nr 30 on 3rd floor, so the stairs worked fine for us. There were no televison. We had shosen to have a "shared toilet and bath" so they were in the hallway. They were old and rundown, didn't seem super clean, but it was okay. Sometimes the toilet or bathroom were occupied/busy, but then we could just use another on the same floor or on a nother floor. The bathroom had very poor/non-existent ventilation, so it got very hot and humid in there when someone had taken a bath.
Rooms were clean, tv, fridge, location pretty good, near subway No elevator
Our stay on the 5th floor was pleasant. The room itself was large enough to function like a small apartment, which has its merits. The futon, however, if opened fully, blocks movement from the bed to the rest of the space; so, we didn't open it, and I slept uncomfortably on half a futon as a result. I traveled and stayed with two others. The key broke in the lock the first night, so the three of us had just one key. I could have used a key of my own.
I used to live in Manhattan, and I think the location and convenience are unbeatable. At first the price may not seem outstanding, but once you consider that you have a kitchen and can accommodate families or groups, it becomes very attractive. The location makes it possible to return to the hotel multiple times a day if you want to change clothes or drop off shopping bags or just get a cheap lunch. I'll definitely keep this place in mind for other trips to NYC. It's not a pretty place to stay (needs painting), and it would be nice to have different sized towels, not just bath sheets (not great for drying dishes). But over all, it's a gem of a place.
The location! Bedbugs! The cleaning lady confirmed it was a bedbug I found in my bed! She also advised me to wash everything I brought in to the hotel before I took it into my house!
They lifted my luggage to 4th floor, where i stayed.
the courtesy of the staff the cleanliness of the bathroom and the room were very noisy
Absolutely nothing Services, booking mistakes, shitty uncomfortable bed, and loud.
It was cheap and the location was great. This is no-frills. The staff is not especially welcoming. The bathrooms could be cleaner.
Nothing Upon examine my room found out it has not been cleaned. Also found shower clogged with dirt inside it. When I called the front desk I was accused of this more then finding a solution to it. No elevators. Loud and violent neighbors. Stayed on friends couch for the weekend instead of room. Waste of money.
It was a at a great location. Rooms were alright for the price. Friendly staff.Nice terrace to be outside when it's warmer The shared bathrooms were just too small and old and dirty. Also right next to the reception. It always smelled of weed
only the location. n'y allez surtout pas..don't go there... we had a shared bathroom awful, it was dirty, we couldn't put our feet in the bath... restroom was erghhhhhh...please don't go!! the receptionnist speaks english very bad, and we had to pay 10 dollars to the hotel for the luggage keeping... we have never seen something so bad...
I loved the decor, how clean everything was, the light, that you can open the window, the comfort, coziness, basically everything! The lotion and amenities provided were cute and high-quality. Really enjoyed my stay here - perfect. Great location near W 4th subway stop with so many trains, walkable, just off Washington Sq Pk. Overall so comfortable, clean and bright!
