The room was very clean, the set up of the room was modern and fresh! would stay again. they are doing renovations on certain floors.
Location is perfect, hotel is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Desk staff was consistently rude over 4 days. Not so much to me but anytime I walked through the lobby I overheard snippy sarcastic remarks being made in response to questions.
Location Price Cleanliness
three windows in my room. Three urns of cold drinks in the lobby every afternoon. only one small elevator working for the entire week
The crisp white linens every day along with big fluffy towels. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Being able to check our bags for a couple of hours on the day of departure prior to leaving for the airport was very appreciated.
staff and cleanliness the elevator did not work. We went to the service elevator.
Flight was delayed a full day, so we headed over to the hotel and was pleasantly surprised at the how much we got for our money's worth! The staff was extremely accommodating as well.
It was in Manhattan, and had a bit of character- though not original to the time period so that's a bit unfortunate. There's decent coffee for sale in the lobby. Appeared to not overcharge me, and no sign of bed bugs! Room was 13' by 9' -that is being generous with the arms pan - that didn't really matter since we didn't hang out there, but it was laughable. Also had a shirt fall of a hanger just to retrieve it covered in dust bunnies. Key cards stopped working halfway through, not a big issue except it's a stair run up/down as the elevators are a bit wonky. Was hoping for old charm, didn't have much of it. Not really worth spending extra, overall. Seems like over $300 will get something special, otherwise might as well just book a Holiday Inn or something basic.
The room was decorated beautifully with a nice contemporary feel and the bed was comfortable. Mold in the bathtub tile wall. There was quiet a lot of it so doesn't appear they do a good job of cleaning the rooms.
the staff was vert friendly and helpful. the room was largge for ny and very comfortable. the diner across fromthe hotel was very ny and had quiet a variety and would deliver. market closs by. everything you neeed for a relaxing ny trip their were problems with elevator but not serious to cause any discomfort
Friendly staff Facility, Elevator was not working. We had to use staff elevator. Construction/renovation on the floor, right in front of my room. Dust and noise.
Clean, nicely designed rooms; comfortable and cozy Construction work in rooms opposite - woken up by loud drilling and hammering at 9am for two of my three night stay. I think I should have been alerted to this fact before I registered.
The location is convenient and access to shops and restaurants in the proximity makes it an easy stay. The staff is friendly and assists in a professional manner when approached. The rooms are OK, but seem to be a little overloaded for a 2 bed configuration, which makes moving around difficult. The bathroom is OK, yet looks a bit sterile with a stainless steel sink. Good for a short stay, a bit uncomfortable for a longer stay.
comfortable, cosy rooms and friendly staff. Nice neighbourhood with a laid-back feel. The only problem was that the wifi is slow, unreliable and expensive.
The room was nice and clean. It was close to Central Park and easy to get to the subway. The staff was very accommodating. The walls were a little thin so you could hear people in the next room or in the hallway.
Great room, location and a friendly staff Nothing really
Location is great on upper west side. close to subway. Rooms very attractive and modern. I reserved a limo to Newark Airport when leaving. The Bell Captain arranged the ride. Fare was quaoted at $78 although the far was $62 on arrival. I agreed to pay. On arrival at the airport the driver could not accept credit. I don't think he was from a legitimate company. I refused - he took off - very stage. When arranging through hotels, this should not happen!
The bathroom/shower and large flat screen TV. Internet facilities ample and very useful. Hotel reception area not particularly well lit. Milk not readily available to make a drink in the room despite what appeared to be a top of the range coffee machine.
Location is great. Rooms are clean and big enough. Beds are high and a bit nerve racking with small children.
Excellent - will definitely stay there again in the future.
Valet parking, the friendliness of the staff, having Star Bucks coffee in the lobby - the lounge area in the lobby where 11 of us had take-in dinner - good place for the 3 children to have space to relax. The children thought the glass doors to the bathrooms were funny - they could see the shadows of the person in the bathroom!
Liked the location, next to good restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, Central Park, museums. Subway is a five minute walk, can get downtown in 20 minutes. Digital thermostat was great for temp control in the room. Came with a Keurig and replenished with 3 k-cups every morning. The staff, especially the doormen, were very friendly and helpful. Serafina is connected to the lobby, has a great brunch. Some reviews stated the rooms were loud, we had no problem during our stay, it was quiet. The bed was very comfortable and sheets were soft. The room was on the small side, but expected in NYC and honestly all the room we needed for 2 people. Decor felt a little like a college dorm. The whole back wall with the TV was full of black scuffs and brown globs - looks like it has rarely been washed. Wish it would have came with a refrigerator as we weren't able to keep any cold drinks in the room. They are trying to be minimal with the decor in the bathroom, but only one towel hanger? Come on.
The staff was very friendly and the location was perfect for us. They were decorating for Christmas when we were checking out, and it looked beautiful. Loved the Starbucks coffee bar in the lobby.
Other than the size of the room which is typical of NYC, overall a nice hotel. We travel to NYC 3-4 times a year. We liked the lobby area of this hotel, friendliness of staff and location on the upper westside. Room cleanliness could have been better and there is a large construction project going on next door so if you are traveling during the work week ask about room location
Quiet zone, well comunicated, good price.
Poor service, no help at all. Phone not working, hairdryer not working, room freezing cold. No early checkin nor late checkout.
location Very dirty
Some of the workers Run down
the location is good and safe poor services and facilities, unreliable hotel staffs
Friendly staff, fast speed internet, clean room The hotel is being renovated and obviously this causes some discomfort as to the elevator and corridors that were not very clean. I am sure once the renovation is finished, this will be a spotless hotel.
The location near the underground station is very conviniet. The neighborhood is very calm. The room is clean and comfortable. We liked our staying in this hotel. The location and the room.
near the subway internet speed/cleanliness of the chairs/no breakfast
convenient location, recently updated facilities, staff was courteous they claim wi-fi is available, but the signal was so weak as to be unusable; couldn't get a $20 broken down at the front desk, air conditioner in my room was broken, room too hot;
the waiter's attitude are very nice could this hotel use more bright bed sheet? it can makes people feel not so much presure.
It was a great location. Next to central park, easy access to subways. The room was clean, the staff was helpful. and i would stay there again if i was in new york.
comfortable bed, next to subway, cheap there was not hangers for clothes at all
It's location, very convenient. The bar, unprofessional staff, no atmosphere. Expensive.
Nothing! The worst hotel in my life ever. They should change the category to one star. The hotel is old, dirty, noisy and the staff are not interested in help you. The guests were are strange, like drug addicts. I saw policemens going there loooking for people. You can watch porn movies in tv, like a motel. Don't go there. It's better pay more and stay in midtown area.
Convenient for subway. Attractive decor. Helpful staff Room very small with inadequate storage and lighting. No elevator and a very narrow dark stairway.
This hotel said it had a refit, It was very dark and rooms were shabby, The plus side was the staff were fantastic. Also it's quite a long way out, On the ourskirts of Harlem.
Cocktail bar and happy hour. Beautiful decor. Well-furnished rooms. Extremely friendly and personal staff. Had to pay for breakfast. Rooms could have had better lighting (i.e. table lamps).
Good location, cute lobby, friendly staff Bathroom very small, but room was comfortable
Room smelled like dirty socks and urine. The heat was about 80 degrees inthe room and we could not get window open for relief Carpet was filthy and all night there were strange shouts or screams with doors slamming. We were glad to get out of this really tacky dirty hotel . Never go there if you want peace and cleanliness. Same as above
Location is brilliant, just next to the subway, staff couldn't of been more helpful with luggage, our room standard and cleanliness was great, checking our limo was on schedule, giving us takeaway menus when we were tired etc. Room had everything you needed and was a decent size. Nothing really just that there was no lift but it wasn't an issue as the staff helped with our luggage.
it's very convinent because it is near the subway. room is quite clean
It is well located close to Central park and the Timesquare subway route. The staff were also very nice and freindly. It's hotel prices for hostel accommdoation! The rooms were small and the ehating didnt work very well. It was often either too hot or too cold. The radiator in our room would wake us up at 6am without fail every morning by making loud ratteling noises.
Nice lounge. Great location. Easy in / out. Flakey WiFi
Great value for location in central NYC. No complaints
Small rooms, great location. Good staff. Nice lobby
The value of the rates given the the area is great and it is centrally located in mid-town. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was noisy in the morning but quiet most of the other times.
Our stall shower was missing the sliding door. The bathroom got soaked during every shower
Room very very small for paying that price. My window view was of another building like 3 inches apart. Sink wouldn't drain, remote control wouldn't work. Otherwise, the staff was nice and the bed was comfortable.
Location Too old and the room was too small worthless
The Empire Hotel was much, much nicer than I expected, considering that it is one of the more affordable options in Manhattan. The lobby was very stylish and featured a nice bar where people were meeting for drinks and snacks etc. The room was very small, but that is typical in big cities, and it was really nicely done, with a lovely bed, lots of towels and toiletries, etc. It felt very comfortable. The location is amazing: Lincoln Center is literally across the street, the subway is half a block away, and you can easily walk to dozens of attractions and the park. This will be my go to hotel from now on in NYC. The movies were a bit expensive to rent ($19!) but the internet was strong and cheap, so it didn't matter. I could hear the folks in the next room, but they were having an argument (whoops) and otherwise I couldn't hear anyone. NYC is noisy, so there's always going to be some noise. I really don't even consider these complaints, to be honest.
The room and lobby were beautifully decorated and the hotel was in a great location right in the middle of manhattan. The staff was very professional and extremely helpful. The room was agonizingly small for the amount of money we paid for it. When we checked in the lady behind the desk said she was "upgrading" us, and we barely had enough room to walk around the bed. I shudder to think of how small our room was before the "upgrade".
The rooftop deck had great views and location was good They charge you for everything and it's super overpriced. The pool was a disappointment it's as big as a pickup truck
The Empire charges mini bar rates for Keurig coffee in room. The bathroom was very, very small which made it difficult to use comfortably, and we are very small people.
I didn't sleep well- the bed was as hard as a rock. Good location
We did not even stay. We left the next minute. It's the worst place to stay. The room starts and ends right there and the floors are like some ancient building floors. The pics deceive you! I ended up wasting 90$ for namesake crap!
The hotel is well communicated with the center of the city and the hotel staff were very kind The hotel is very old and we could not sleep because of the loud noise from the heating boiler
Nothing really.. The hotel was older .. the first room was a big as a closest with a bed .. then the second room when I complained I gota two bed .. which had no closet space .. I hated the shared restroom and the elevator only fit two ppl with two small bags and was broken a few times so we would walk down and up .. staff was friendly and maids we nice and gave us clean towels .. just didn't like how the restroom was down the hall and everyone on the same floor used it.. subway was a block down and if I take train 3 it's only 2 stops from time square .. ooo other guest in the room across from us were smoking weed . And stink up all the hallways and hated it the smell..
Good location, it is very near to subway or entral park. But the room is very, very, very small, far smaller than what you can image. If you go with your friends or family, it is not a approprate place.
Location is perfect, very close to eating places, food store and most importantly Subway line 1, so that in 15 minutes you are at 5th avenue, Times square and most important places in Manhatten. My bed was not comfortable at all, sort of skewed. Also, there was a window that faced the wall of adjacent building. So, there was no comfort being in teh room at all. But for just having some safe place to spend overnight with separate bathroom, this is okey.
Place is in terrible shape, really disgusting
The hotel is very old, not clean and you don´t feel very safe in it
Large room, one ekstra bed, great value for money. Old and shabby.
It was clean, affordable and in easy to access from the subway. It was a safe place to stay. Our room was quite large for the city. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
I loved the fact the subway was so close. We also enjoyed the proximity to the Hudson River. The surrounding area was very beautiful. And they had great food around the area. Bathrooms just didn't feel clean. The floorboards crack and creak when you walk down the halls. Very slow and inconvenient elevator. Some staff members weren't the friendliest. The bed sheets were stained and looked horrible the first day we got there. Not enough towels and they only have a few at the front desk before they run out.
The Hotel had a very good price, normal conditions and was very well placed. We had to pay a few dollars to locke our luggage the day we checked out. That should be for free.
To explain the room that was provided to me. - Broken door - Smelly - Single bedroom with two beds in it. - The Restroom was shared among five different rooms. - No Toiletries - Open window in Restroom. - Broken Shower knob
Hotel is in an excellent location. Two blocks away from Central Park, near subway and great restaurants. Hotel Staff very pleasant and professional, Concierge was great. Hotel room was spacious and very clean. Requested room not available (plumbing), alternate room was very accommodating. Later check out.
Comfortable although small room with 2 standard double beds - quiet apart from drown of airconditioning outside. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Excellent location very close to subway, Central Park and Natural History Museum. .
high quality establishment with attractive look and feel in excellent location
the kindness of the hotel staff.
Friendly staff, location and the upgrade I was given was a wonderful surprise. No complaints.
Conveniently located (center of Manhattan, near Central Park) and easily reached by driving. As it was an older hotel the rooms are compact by current standards but still confortable for one (perhaps cozy for two).
Superb location on upper West side. Excellent staff including concierge service. Good, clean, room with turn down service and appropriate amenities.
I liked the sitting room area. The fact the room was quiet, despite being on a busy avenue and street. It was suitable for our family gathering.. It was overpriced for the neighborhood and for the amenities offered.
I was very pleased with my stay at the Lucerne. The room, though small, was very comfortable. I was particularly impressed by the comfort of the mattress, pillows and linens. Our in room coffee maker was not in the room at check in. We did not realize until the second day that we could request it from the desk.
convience My key did not work the night before I had to leave the next day but your staff fixed it.
The staff was great they were very helpful and eager to help.
The front desk guys were exceptional. Truly cared to make sure I was a happy customer. It will be my permanent go to on the west side from here on out! No hotel at these great prices can be perfect so there is no point in complaining when everything else was spot on!
Very nice accomodations - appreciated how clean it was & having frig/micro and coffee available....as well as easy access to subway - Thank you for your part in making our stay in NYC so nice!
The room was exactly what we'd reserved. It was small but clean and quiet. The hotel staff was very nice. The location is excellent. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby and the subway right outside the door.
Nice place to stay for the Thanksgiving parade. Short walk to the subway on 96 street and central park. Would stay here again! Father and two sons. Had to pay $7 for internet connection.
Excellent location, nice room, pleasant overall impression. If you want to leave your luggage for a few hours on the day of your departure, you need to pay $5. At a hotel this expensive, this should *really* be complimentary. Also, I would expect room for two people to include more than a full bed - in my experience, queen-size is the standard in the US, and that's what I assumed we would get.
The hotel is just right for a night sleep and good location for a conference in Columbia University. The lift is very slow.
subway station right in front hotel, all types of stores nearby. expensive parking, cheap window ac unit with very poor sound insulation. few outlets in the room. very old hotel badly needing a facelift. but what do you expect in NYC for $300?
My only critique was that the bed was a tad uncomfortable for me, but both my mom and aunt were quite comfortable. The room was small and cozy, but it has everything a visitor needs. The staff was wonderful and kind. The location is excellent - right next to a subway stop that makes it easy to see NYC in minutes. Also blocks from Central Park. Neighborhood is safe and clean. Next to a drug store, n case you forgot something. Loved it and would stay there again.
We came to bike the Five Boro and the hotel staff was very accommodating - the hotel is also well situated close to the west side bike path.
Good location and for New York,it is a good size room. Right across street for the Subway and 3 blocks from Central Park. The beds are so hard and linens are very old. Towels are tiny and old. Our room was not cleaned even after I told them we were leaving and would l ike room serviced.
The place was ok, and reasonable. We exchanges all comfort for the low price so it was not any thing new. The place was very clean and well furnished and a bit spacious for such a small room. The only problem was the the lobby people told us to go to this specific parking garage and the garage or the lobby duse totally scamed us saying that the discount voucher wa's not rezconized at the garage and the customer support people for the hotel blamed us for going to to wrong place. We ended up paying a lot for a over night parking than anywhere else.
Clean. Friendly/helpful staff. Great value Small room.
Convenience. Walk to central park, walk the opposite way a few feet to catch the subway, 24 hour diner and deli conveniently nearby. We will for sure stay here again. Beautiful location. The hallways are slim, rooms are small BUT...it's perfect for the couple that likes to get in and out, tour, with ease.
Comfortable bed, clean, fresh paint. Great value. But indeed the smallest room I have ever been in. As a single, was no problem.
Small rooms but clean and located very close to the 1 subway train, Central Park, and natural history museum.
It was VERY clean and staff was great
Location, Really clean, comfortable beds and linens. No late check out signs posted everywhere almost yelling at you.
Great location; good value, friendly staff, super clean room, the ability to request a certain type of room (eg, quiet, bed type, bed number) Housekeeping entered my room even though I had the "Do not Disturb" sign on the doorknob. Minor glitch.
Hotel is pretty much the cheapest in town. Expect very small rooms - basically just the bed and a bit leg room. Bathrooms were impressive - renovated and clean and a flat screen TV - so just the basics....
Location and cleanliness Nothing
nice and clean rooms, friendly staff, no
The staff who exhibited a friendly desire that my stay was an enjoyable one. A problem with a faulty radiator that the staff rectified satisfactorily.
good location and affordable, nice room, internet was not working while not been properly informed as wi-fi did work internet was not working while not been properly informed as wi-fi did work
I liked the location and the room. The staff were very friendly. The area can be noisy and it would be nicer if the windows were double-glazed.
Ideal Location: close to Central Park and all major museums and only 2 blocks away from the subway to downtown
We had a one night stay and were pleased with our experience. The hotel is at a great location near Central Park and away from the busy downtown city life. We liked that very much. We initially decided on this hotel because of the rate but found the location more appealing. The bathroom was too small. Forget privacy. We had to keep the door open, while using the bathroom, just to have some elbow room.
Noisy, dirty, very small room.
confortable enough , and a very kind staff
its pretty well located, just in front of natural museum, its confortable, clean, and a much better option than other budget hotels.
nothing noisy, even early morning, you can here the others in other rooms, not as you u see in the web site, not worth the money, u can get better hotel for less price.
the area the access to the park and nothing else they did not switch on the heating when we asked, the answers of the staff were always like in a bad mood. its a pitty that we extend our stay for another 4 nigths when we arrived
Ok standard and clean rooms. Very good location near Central park and 1/2 block from subway on 81st. Small rooms and unfriendly night staff.
Visited Central Park and the us Open tennis tournament. Both were very accessible from the hotel - either a short walk or via the subway. Would definitely stay there again.
The bedroom is luxurious. Having the sitting room with a second TV was great- have not seen that elsewhere..Loved having open parking across the street at the Museum of Natural History. Many good restaurants nearby. And Central Park- I thought the welcome was thin- they did not tell us that breakfast could be had on Floor 2- even just coffee. Did not have coffee pots in room-I missed that.
I was at this hotel for 3 nights and enjoyed in the early fall on my own little party vacation. Very clean and good price. One front desk employee was rude but the other couldn't have been any nicer and helpful so just know who to go to. The staff was also the only knock I had or had read about in my research for the trip. Night life was younger about a $15-$20 cab ride away but day time had plenty to offer. Well worth price and would go again with a date.
Location was excellent. Cabs, metro all accessable. Lots of good places to eat and shop that were close by. Lots of park greenery to make it relaxing. Atmosphere of the hotel and clientelle are very friendly.
Great service and close to many destinations
I liked the location next to Central Park. I was given a lower-grade room with twin single beds instead of twin double beds initially. On questioning why the response from front desk had an air of "we almost got away with it" and "we are doing you a favor moving you into the better room." I had to book a room online because obstacles and excuses were given when I tried to amend my booking slightly.
Great location for the finish of the New York City Marathon. Comfortable beds. No free wifi in the rooms and only one internet access in the lobby. No facilities for tea /coffee in the room. Room was overly hot and cooling fan rather noisy. Breakfast choice was a bit limited
The hotel was located in a good spot for visiting NYC. Its location to many attractions is great. Help with parking facilities would have helped. it seemed you were pretty much on your own for parking.
The location is excellent. It is right across the street from The American Museum of Natural History and adjacent to Central Park. The neighborhood is great--lots of families out walking and lots of dogs. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance. I am a middle-age female, and I walked around at night and felt safe. Also, a subway stop is across the street. I had a car, and I parked overnight at the museum garage for $26 per night. The hotel was quiet, and the staff was friendly. The room I stayed in was adequate, but it was not as luxurious as the picture on the website. The desk chair was worn out. Very small TV . Had to pay for internet service and had tech problems with it. The bathroom was clean, but a bit small and quaint--like staying at my great aunt's home. The air conditioning ran full blast the whole time, and still the room was too warm and stuffy for me to sleep comfortably. My room was on the 7th floor and I had to take the elevator to either the 3rd or 11th floor to get ice every day. Also, soda and snack machines are on different floors. Too much hassle!
In addition to the beautiful suite and comfortable bed the hotel staff makes the guest feel welcome and at home. I highly recommend this hotel if you want luxury, a feeling of warmth and friendliness, and safety.
My wife and I were in town for an awards ceremony and wanted to have a special first class stay near Central Park. The hotel was so nice and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. They even provided us with a limo ride to our event with just a quick call to the front desk. Everything was first rate and the room, view, and decor was very upscale adding to the New York experience. The location was within walking distance to all the best shops, dining, and attractions so that we did not need a cab while we were there. The best part was a view of central park and the room was very quiet with no typical street noise or horns blowing during the night.
Great location, bed was comfortable, TV was nice, clean for age of hotel, sheets and pillows were comfortable. Very Dated! Poor quality construction. bathroom WAY TOO SMALL. Bedroom HOT, Living Room FREEZING! Asked to fix 3 day in a row...finally changed rooms.I could NOT HAVE BEEN FIRST? Old towels, cracked toilet, dated fixtures. $70 half bottle wine?
A well thought out room layout (jr suite) and everything clean and working. Very friendly employees. An effortless hotel experience where you can tell they are sweating the details. it's not a great room lobby hotel and the views aren't city vistas. But if you value functional comfort Trump Int'l is the best value at the higher end of NYC hotels.
The staff were really helpful and the room was very clean The room was not available for us on the first night and we were checked in at another hotel. Also the tv didn't work, there was no iPod dock and the shower valve was unreliable.
Good location, nice atmosphere, cleaner than the average hostel in NYC always a long line at the reception desk
Clean, but the heating battery didn´t work properly so it was quite chilly in the room.
Reading reviews over Broadway Hotel & Hostel on the internet, we had low expectation and was prepared for the worst. But we were pleasantly surprised on arrival on how good this hotel is. We had the Double Bed / Deluxe Room. The room was clean and spacious. Excellent bed with clean sheets. Nice, clean bathroom and clean towels everyday. Two blocks away from the subway station, and lot of nice restaurants / cafes in the neighborhood. no water cooker, no phone
Staff were very nice and helpful. Room very small, but as I expected. Bed comfortable and accommodations were great for the price.
The hotel was nice, but staff was really rude and unwilling to help you. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to people witch are looking for a hostel like experience. Staff,Staff,Staff, especially male Caucasian guy. He was rude to me and my sister.
The sitting room was nice and big with a few tvs. The beds are bunkbeds. The lockers in Room 326 did not close so you could not put a lock on them.
The room was clean, the staff were awesome I honesty did not have any dislikes
Every person that I saw coming to the front desk, including me, would have a reservation problem. Or it wasn't registered, or a different number of people were booked. If you stay there more than one night, expect to have to change rooms!
The mattress of the room was criminal and there is plenty of room to improve the premises of the hotel and its rooms. The price is high for the quality obtained.
Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Our hotel door was jammed a bit and was hard to open and close. The door knob was also broken so you would have to turn it all the way and basically kick the door to open it.
There were the problems with hot water in the bathrooms (2nd floor) in the morning during my stay in the hostel
I was rather surprised that the price quoted did not include taxes. Coming from Europe it came as a nasty surprise at the end.
Felt like a home away from home. Great neighborhood , everything close at hand, Cafes, Markets, subway all on your doorstep. Highly recommended, wouldn't stay anywhere else!
Good location for visiting the American Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Opera House. The shower doesn't have much water although water comes lot from the tap for bathtub.
Very friendly and helpful staff. I had a non smoking room, but I could smell cigarette smoke in the morning, presumably through the air conditioning system. Ugh! Disgusting.
Location and layout of the suite (separate bathroom so no one had to go through the bedroom). Lovely, responsive maid.
localization, cleaning and confortable room and the little kitchen when I arrived I had a small problem with the book. But I think the problem is the booking.com, not the hotel. And after some trouble they solved the problem.
Room was available for early check in. The bed and bedding were really good quality and comfortable. Fridge even had ice in the freezer. Across the street from Fairway; great for provisioning the room. There were no bedbugs!!!!! Taxes are very high in NYC hotels, so while the rate looked very attractive on Booking.com, customers should be aware that our three night stay cost over $100 more than the booking.com rate because of taxes. Was okay with us because we were happy with room, location, etc. but NYC is expensive.
Kichenette facility; cleanliness poor mattress on fold-out bed; did not fix the heating element during our stay
The price, the location Old room and furniture, old bathroom
Location was great!!! It's next to a market and a block and a half from 1,2,3 metro stop. Nicely maintained. Excellent stay!
location of hotel. Comfort of room. Nothing
Quiet, close to a Subway and clean Small, basic room
I liked the strong water pressure of the showers. The room was very small, the towels were thin, and you could hear all conversations in the hall. There was not security because anyone could walk in and go to the floors. The sitting room was extremely hot. There was no way you could remain there and the staff were lukewarm.
Realy good bed and good shower
It exceeded my expectations. Clean and comfortable. Perfect for the solo traveller. Very friendly and helpful staff. It was my first visit to NY and the staff went out of their way to help me. The lobby and sitting room are somewhat off-putting but the rooms are a pleasant surprise! And the location cannot be beat! I will stay here again.
The convenience and neighborhood of the hotel and the view of the park and Hudson River. Rooms are very small.
The location within walking distance to all facilities such as transport etc the friendliness of all the staff. The comfort of the Hotel its self
It is filthy..the staff is very kind though.
The room smelled, the carpet had stains and the furniture was old and dilapidated Everything
Location and helpfullness of staff. The view of the Hudson. Shops, restaurants and subway all close by. Rooms were very small and in a bad need of a makeover. TV was over the head of the bed which meant that it was impossible to watch it while in bed. There was no kettle supplied. Location, staff and value for money made up for all of the above. Should really be classed as a hostel......
Location is the only positive impression left We've booked room for 2 adults and hotel offered us room of 3 sq.m which is not sufficient even for one kid
Location; neighborhood sense of simply living on Riverside Drive, at Riverside Park, in Manhatten. Staff was helpful and kind. Towels & sheets were crisp and clean. Comfortable with the reality of the situation and handled professionally. Old, small building and rooms ~ sense of renting a tiny studio (with fridge and microwave) for your NY stay. Clean but decidedly rough. The (double) room was only slightly larger than the bed it held. Would likely not have opted for that if shared with another person.
you expect little of a hostel in N-Y city and this one made the $40 a lot more than just a night in a budget accomodation! I have been in far more expensive hostels in the City and they are no match for this one. Definitely recommended.
Great place to stay if you are traveling alone to NYC Na
I am sorry but all i liked was the staff, very friendly and helpful when needed. The beds were very small and not very comfortable, there was only one toilet at the end of the hall and the showers, also at the end of the hall, were disgusting
Awesome staff, nice rooms, relaxed area, lots of fun! Im going back
Staff is very helpful, good breakfast.
The staff was friendly, the room was clean but small. The showers on our floor did not work so we had to use showers on other floors. The tiolets and dryer were very loud. The doors are very modern with digital-card (no keys). Close to subway-station and delis (food, drinks). Breakfast was poor (coffee, flakes, bread, bad juice..) Showers, breakfast, the heating wasn't working most of the time (fortunately it was around 10-20 degrees in october..)
It's a pretty cheap deal, 30 per night in the 4 person room, and i think there are even cheaper rooms with more people in them. You we'll make a lot of new friends and they have activities going on like stand-up comedy and organized nights to go to the clubs around. They place is run by international staff, there's a latino guy with cocky behavior. Rest of the people are nice and willing to help. My key never worked, i had to go like 4 times to the front desk to make it work (of course there was always the cocky latino dude there.... really annoying, he even pretends to speak good english and italian... he couldn't be farer). Rooms are really tiny, the 4 person room is really small, u dont have place to put your suitcase. There are two lockers for 4 people!!.. does it make sense?, not to me!. So basically is first come first served. Bathroom .... it's better if u don't have to use them.
Staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. There was an upbeat, friendly atmosphere in the hostel. It's in a nice, safe area of New York, within easy reach (about 5 mins stroll) of the subway and Central Park. The breakfast was nice in the mornings. Very uncomfortable beds. Showers and toilets were few and far between. $4 charge to store bags after you've checked out, even if you only need to store them for a couple of hours. We paid the fee and left our bags for 3 hours and when we came back they had just been slung to the back of the storage a rea and other bags had been chucked on top. I wouldn't have minded that happening if the storage had been free (after all, the bags were about to be flung around by an airline) but if you pay someone to look after your property, I think you're entitled to expect more care than that to be taken
location cleanliness facilities and staff its not anything you can do but someone vomited in the bathroom and didnt clean it up very well horrible experience needing to use the toilet it was cleaned properly when staff did it it would be nice to have an alternative to use but the same thing could happen there
Our room was cleaned daily. The reception area was like a building site and the whole foyer was being renovated. We were not informed of this. Our room had stains on the carpet, however the room was cleaned daily. The hotel corridors had a horrible musty smell to them. No safety deposit boxes were provided. Staff were friendly, but hotel should not of been open during such renovations.
room service & quiet external heating tube in bathroom (was very hot) & hard to use heating device in room. bath room's ceiling had couple of black spots which did not bother us but could others.
location sometimes there is no room cleaning, cleaning ladies complaint about being too busy!! Except for one, overall reception staff are not friendly.
