The windows in the room were frosted. No view, not even of the air shaft. The room was discounted and the advertisement said, 'Courtyard View', so expectations were low. But FROSTED WINDOWS at the PIERRE.....WTF. If I were the Pierre I would be embarrassed to sell that room. Save it as a spare, use it to comp. someone when you are sold out, but don't advertise it as a Courtyard View when rooms at Rikers' Island have a better view of a courtyard than cell block 412, at the Pierre. I cannot believe the Pierre needs my $500/night and would stoop to selling this room, which is so below their supposed standards. Get rid of the elevator escorts and you won't have to mislead people into an unsatisfying purchase. No more Taj, Pierre for this vacationer. The Essex House has worked fine in the past and will again in the future. HUGE disappointment.

The suite was beautiful and nicely appointed. Room was upgraded to suite due to my anniversary. They sent gratis champagne and cake which was waiting for us after dinner. We were on 4th floor and room was next to heating/AC machines. So long as you didn't look out the window, it was lovely. (I recognize I didn't pay for park view but street view but did end up with the single worst view room in the place.)

wonderful staff and excellent service, good room service recipes, amazing manager at check in, absolutely incredible and wonderfully welcoming customer service room was incredibly dated and due for a remodel years ago, minimal in furniture, old and worn mattress , sheets incredibly thin with very used and uncomfortable bedding, carpet is dusty from years and years of use, furniture was so old, minimal, totally uncomfortable, bathroom lighting incredibly poor, light fixtures giving off minimal light, lack of art or general in room FF&E comfort expected at a 5 star property
I love Indian food and since the Pierre is a member of the Taj Group, they have several traditional Indian cuisine items on the menu, even for breakfast. Plus, their Indian food is delicious!

Location, staff, security and quiet elegance. Beds were also extremely comfortable. Cleanliness of rooms was noticeably good. Hotel is very quiet at night. You will get a good night's sleep. They need an easy coffee shop with coffee and breakfast breads/toast available on the go at a reasonable price. Coffee service in lobby should remain open longer.

It is a small elegant hotel. The rooms were spacious and beautifully appointed. We loved the hotel, but returned to find our room had not been made up all day. They got someone right up to us, but I was surprised by that.

The hotel staff was - without any exception - very committed and excellently prepared to facilitate all guest needs immediately Concierge recommended a restaurant (the water's edge) to follow the 4th of July fireworks, but from there one could not see even one rocket. A lot of money wasted for nothing.
The upper east side hotel is steps away from coffee shops and boutiques, restaurants are a 20 minute walk away or 5 minutes in a cab. The standard is high, rooms are spacious and clean and the staff are friendly, helpful and have exceptional manners compared to other hotels that I've stayed in. The best thing about this hotel was the European influence. I didn't like that a simple standard coffee cost $6, which really should've been free in the morning given the price (albeit worth it) of the hotel stay. Two cocktails should not have cost $46, especially when prosecco was used instead of champagne.

The property is vintage upper East Side in design and service. The property appeared to be maintained extremely well and the staff was always attentive. The rooms were immaculate and very well maintained. The location is walking distance from both upper East side boutiques and restaurants as well as from midtown shopping, museums and people watching. Subway access is also very convenient. I would recommended this hotel to anyone looking for an old world luxury experience in the heart of vintage New York. I would also return without hesitation. No complains on this visit
Everyone was extremely helpful and the rooms were large and clean. The hotel is located on a side street, close to shopping but quiet. I would highly recommend this hotel. The prices in the hotel restaurant were extremely high. A cup of coffee was $10 and yogurt with granola and berries was $27. It was very good but this wasn't room service but actually in the restaurant.

Very good location close to Central park and Museums
It's very central, walking distance to almost all places. Room is big, very clean and overlooking a nice street. Many cafes around for cousy breakfast/branch. My husband usualy preferes 5stars, but never regreted me booking this 3stars hotel. It is comfortable with exellent restaurant (French), full of local people even on Monday night. Night shift staff could be a little more active, but it was not really a problem, just compering to the day time people who were much more helpful.
Surrey has a great location so near to Central Park, museums, and shopping. We had a large, comfortable room with a view of Central Park! The staff were knowledgable and helpful.

Friendly staff; good location; great design. Our deluxe room was large by New York standards. Our grand deluxe room had no bath! Complete lack of freely available guest-friendly wi-fi facilities in the hotel amazed us and caused ongoing problems. Computer in chargeable "business centre" was also faulty. Room temperature did not respond when adjusted by room thermostat. Dining room very cold and breakfast extremely poor in comparison with any other hotel we have visited (especially in Europe). Almost complete lack of public spaces: bar-lounge pleasant but cold and draughty and accommodation overcrowded at times (by members of the public using the dining room) so people (hotel guests!) turned away. The restaurant is apparently rated in New York but the food they sent up on room service was third rate.

The location of the hotel is just wonderful - could not be better. The lobby and doormen were very friendly and got to know us during the week we stayed. Our room was beautiful but had no view whatsoever - it looked into a lightwell. My wife and I felt that the front desk staff let the place down. We were promised an upgrade to a room with a view from one receptionist and told to come back at 4pm on our 2nd day to move. After coming from lower Manhattan to make the promised move the receptionist had a change of heart and told us no other rooms were available - although we knew that there were. Front desk staff were the only disappointment during our stay.

The biggest room I've ever had in NYC. Well appointed, comfortable and an informative, sympathetic staff. I was working at Sotheby's on York Ave and the location was close to perfect. Staff recommended Donohue's on Lex for dinner, a real find and not the usual, "Go to this over-priced joint and we get a kickback" hotel recommendation. Honest service at a realistic price.

The 'one bedroom suite' was very confortable and the varanda is an excellent option. Also the staff is very kind and helped us in many ways. The internet was not free and the fee was very expensive. It is a surprise that an establishment like this one doesn't have free internet.
Excellent location and confort. The kitchen is very convenient. The one bedroom suite is very convenient when one has to do "homework"! We had to pay twice for the internet access. One for my computer and the other one for my husband's i-phone.
The staff was amazing! We had loud neighbors in the adjacent room, I went to the desk and the issue was immediately resolved by placing us in a different room. Our bartender recommend some incredible dining options. Overall our stay was wonderful!

Pretty decent hotel. The location is right next to the FDR freeway entrance so do expect a little noise, but that didn't bother me because, after all, you are in New York City. I was still able to sleep. I felt like we were in a pretty decent area of the city and for the most part, it was a clean neighborhood where we didn't run into tourists everywhere. Staffs are pretty friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. We got the 2 beds deluxe room and that's more than enough room for 2 people. Beds were comfortable. They have a nice restaurant on the top floor and a bar next to the lobby that open til 4 am so we def took advantage of that! You're several blocks from the nearest subway station but that's ok, I needed the walk. I'll def book this hotel again. No free wi-fi, unless you wanna hang out in the hotel lobby, and who wants to do that after a long day in the city. Most standard hotels, even the cheap motels, comes with free wi-fi. Shower door was a bit weird but I got it down after second day to prevent getting water everywhere on the bathroom floor.
Upon arrival I was informed that there was no room for me. They sent me down to the marcel hotel on 24th street. Was given the option to return to Bentley the next day or if I liked the marcel then I could stay there instead. Great room at the marcel ( first it was one bed which didn't work for me then they found me one with two beds). Next day I tell them I would stay there as the room was perfect they informed me that they had to move me to another room. They also informed me the rate was higher... MUCH HIGHER than the kayak rate. Obviously I vehemently disagreed and demanded I stay in the same room I spent the night before. To which I was told I "didn't understand the hospitality business" and needed to still move. I then questioned their hospitality. Long story short after much arguing the rate did not change but I reluctantly changed rooms (not as nice as the original room) and then went on to enjoy the rest of my time in nyc.
The bed was comfortable. Staff was helpful. Lobby is a bit awkward, bathrooms say for employees only, the staff was really nice though. Restaurant wasn't open on a Friday night. I won't stay there again

I like the fact the neighborhood had so many kids and a playground was a block up. The staff was nice and knowledgeable. The hotel is position by a bridge. The hotel does offer parking but in a crappy garage a block up from the hotel. The hotel could be nice if the owner would throw away old worn out furniture. The hotel is weird and please don't get a standard room
The location was perfect for our needs. The shower and sink needed maintenance, they leaked and were hard to use. The room was very small. The hotel was more worried about the mini bar and trying to charge us for things we did not want or use than they were about anything else. Wifi in room is not free.
The bed was comfortable and there certainly were enough pillows. Room temperature was comfortable which meant the thermostat actually worked Did not like the fact there was no refrigerator. If people were in the rooms on either side you could hear their conversations. People would come in after midnight and be talking in their room and that would wake me out of a deep sleep. The chest drawer would not stay closed. Certainly that was something that should have been taken care of. Housekeeping left much to be desired. Towels were a big problem, so I just took several at a time and didn't have housekeeping come into the room. Even if they came in, they didn't leave enough washcloths and hand towels.
The staff were helpful and courteous, the room was comfortable and clean, the toiletries provided were excellent, the hotel decor is sort of Asian Noir that is both fun and tasteful, parking is very close and not expensive. Dearth of outlets in the room. No valet parking. Must check prices on provided extras since, though comprehensive, they are quite pricey.

I've stayed at Marriott Courtyards many times; however this was my first time at this location. I was deeply disappointed. My room was so dusty, had a fitted sheet too small for the mattress, leaving the mattress exposed, and didn't have a remote for the t.v. I was denied a room change when issues were brought to the attention of the front desk. I won't return to this location.

It was very near Central Park, the Metro and Guggeenheim. It was also in a place where there were the least number of people.

Staff at reception desk were pleasant NYC was hot (95 degrees) during our stay. The A/C window unit was loud and did not keept up with the heat. The traffic noise was also loud. One of two elevators was working.

N/A Booked the Hotel online on a very busy evening in the city (hardly any rooms available). Was so thankful to find a room in a well rated hotel, as it was getting very late and I was getting concerned as a female in the city with no where to go. When I arrived I was told that there were no rooms available due to an inventory issue. The front desk person did help me look for another room, and after an hour of looking we were able to find another room in the city. However, it was twice as much as what I would have paid if they would have had the room I originally booked. When I asked if they would cover the difference in price, they told me there was nothing they could do since they refunded my money. They were also not willing to pay for my cab fair to the other hotel. It was a long night, and I was extremely disappointed in the guest services at this hotel.

Full size kitchen appliances and two bathrooms. Comfy bed and cleanliness of efficiency room. No outlets in the bathrooms for electrical appliances. Furnishings, carpeting, bathroom lighting and hardware need to be updated. It appeared that the hotel has not had an update in the last 15 years.
close to stration & full kitchen bed was very poor quality for the type of hotel. moiserizers and other items were not replaced once used. water was not provided on a daily basis, only recieved 2 satchels of sugar per day, there are many more items which were of concern during our stay.

A very stylish hotel that feels quite luxurious. The staff was very friendly, no wish was left unfulfilled. Given the usual prices of hotels in Manhattan, this hotel seems quite good value for the money. You won't get a room with a view here, because the hotel part of the building is only up to and including the sixth floor. Above that, it's only long-term appartments. The platform at the top of the building was being renovated during our stay.

Staff was great, location perfect, quiet but close to the metro. Room nice and very clean, we booked a studio but we were upgraded to a suite. Very good stay! Works for the metro in the street just close to the hotel were a little bit noisy.

The room was fairly well appointed except for the broken icecube tray and the missing fry pan. Very clean and roomy. Complimentary NY Times. Lack of coffee station. Poor room service. Faulty heat control. TV was some sort of demo and the sound went in and out. Also annoying popups kept appearing on the screen
The suites were really quite nice. Not high end luxury (unless you're in the Penthouse, I suppose), but tastefully neutral, lots of natural light, a balcony, and equipped kitchen. There are small things (stains on the hallway carpets, unfinished trim in the suites, etc) that are a bit disappointing at first if you're expecting luxury, but once you get accustomed it's all fine.
good mattress and the rooms where clean. they offered afternoon wine and nuts which was nice. not as presented on the web site. a quaint hotel on a tree lined street. the hotel was next to a construction site. the lobby was therefor dirty with all the construction dirt brought in. all the trees on the street where cut down due to the construction. it was very noisy. to enter the hotel one had to walk around and under scaffolding. the breakfast was minimal. we went out for breakfast after the first morning even though we had already payed for breakfast. i would not go back!
I truly thought The Franklin had great customer service. Everyone there was so nice and very helpful. I loved the little breakfast set up they had in the morning. Simple, but just enough to get your day started. And then from 4:30 - 6:30 they offer wine and cheese happy hour. LOVED IT! Good "house" wine, little nuts, dried fruit, and cheese! My mom and I had such a great time sitting in the "common room" and enjoying a hot tea (my mom) and a glass of wine(me). And you are super close the to 4,5,& 6 Lex line, which makes it very easy to get anywhere you're trying to go. There were some draining issues with our tub, but that just comes with an older building. Also, I wish their website would have more pictures available of their property.

I only paid $99/night and still wouldn't stay again. Heat didn't work despite the below freezing temps outside. They had a space heater but no extra blankets. Did not want to spend a second more in the room than necessary. I was upgraded to a larger room which was still the smallest room I have ever stayed in. Felt quite claustrophobic. Most of the staff were super nice, with the exception of a few obnoxious unhelpful ones. Couldn't wait for my stay to be over. Also I saw the shell of a bug on my bed but I'm not sure if it was random or an actual bedbug. Came home with three bites on my body. Not sure. I'll put all my clothes through the dryer just in case.

There was nothing to like. The ratings section of this review forced me to give them a 1 so that I could submit the review. The Gracie Inn deserves a ZERO rating, overall. The hotel was filthy. The room - 306 - was disgustingly filthy and falling apart. It looked like it had not been dusted or sanitized in years from the layers of dirt and grime on everything. There were broken blinds, doors, drawers and cabinets. The kitchenette was beyond dirty, with food stains everywhere. The bed sheets had human hair all over and stains on the pillows. The bathroom had hair everywhere and layers of dust. Housekeeping insisted that they had just "cleaned the room". The housekeeper remade the bed, but I was already in shock from the state of the entire suite. Paint was chipping and pealing off the walls! I have photos documenting all of this. I returned the keys to the drop box immediately and left. I had to inconvenience a friend for a couch to sleep on for the next three nights. The Gracie Inn is a disgrace. The Disgracie Inn is a more suitable name of this place.
