[Your Space] Your room, 14 sqm, is equipped with a 160cm wide double bed, a desk, a flat screen tv and a huge wardrobe, which is equipped with a safe. You will have exclusive access to a 6 sqm bathroom which has a very large shower, as you can see in the pictures. In the room there is a big window with double glazing to maximize isolation. The window has shutters in case you prefer to block out lights. The room has high ceilings and is equipped with air conditioning (during summer) and heating (from November to mid April, as per local regulations). Therefore you will have 20 sqm of personal space. In addition to this, there is the kitchen and the dining room that add another 24 sqm of shared space that is available to you. The apartment is located on the first floor, just 24 steps up from the street level. This building dates back to 16th century, so no, it doesn't have an elevator;) and so on. basically you just need to bring your clothes!:) You can use the kitchen and the dining room whenever you like. In the dining room you will find: the fridge (where we will leave some space for you), the cupboards and an antique wooden table where you can eat your meals. [Interaction] We are quiet people and we would like to rent our room to equals, so to say;) You can easily lock your room if you want, but even if you leave it wide open, we do not access it during your stay. Our schedule is usually quite hectic so we are not very often at home. When we are home we enjoy spending most of the time in "our area" even when we have no guests. This means that the only thing you are likely to share with us is the kitchen, giving you almost as much privacy as you would get if you were to rent a private apartment. We enjoy meeting people and so far the sharing experience has been pleasant. We love Florence and we will be happy to share tips, recommend restaurants or help you figure out what to visit. [The Neighborhood] The apartment is located in the very heart of Florence. The area is filled with nice restaurants, trattorias, gelaterias and many other kinds of eateries. The Palazzo Vecchio is exactly in front of us and is home to the famous Salone dei Cinquecento, which is supposed to be the location where the Leonardo Da Vinci's painting, "Battle of Anghiari", should be hidden. On top of the Palazzo Vecchio you find the Torre di Arnolfo, which can now be visited and offers spectacular views of Florence and surroundings. Your bedroom is right in front of Palazzo Vecchio side entrance, which was created during the last expansion of the building. Above the entrance there is a great Medici coat of arms and the words "Cosmvs Medices Floren Dux MDL", basically you will be living in front of an historical building that is over 500 years old. Duomo, Giotto's belltower and Baptistery: 400 m, 5 minutes; Restaurants, Bars, Trattorias, Pizzerias and a few take aways are within 3 minutes walk; Florence SMN (main train station) 15 minutes walk or 10 by taxi; FLR Airport is roughly 30 minutes away (by taxi). [Getting Around] You can literally walk anywhere and we advise you to do so. You will be staying in the heart of Florence, so basically everything is walking distance. The historical centre of Florence is filled with tiny one way streets and pedestrians areas, so it's easy to walk everywhere while driving around the city is not for the faint-hearted;P Moreover, parking facilities start at 20 Euro per day. For such reasons, we believe that it might be advisable to do NOT have a car in Florence.
