Staff were very friendly and location was brilliant Aircon was not v cold but it was ok
it is a 4 star hotel at the beach quite empty late in october. The beach is very clean and save even for little kids. Only 5 km from the center of Puerto Santa Maria and about 20 km from Jerez (20€ by taxi really worth to visit with its huge farmers markets !!!) swimming pool was closed like in all other hotels in October;-((
the staff were very friendly and helpful and the sea view was fantastic
Very nice view to the see, comfortable room. Restaurant only served some menu for dinner; there was no a la cart choice to have dinner.
maybe because of the disco next door one had to endure a lot of noise during the night front office was not able to charge my Amex card (on purpose?)
Good value for money.
Place is good, near to beach, K for visiting Cadiz. Free car park
It´s layed practically at the beach, close to the busy souvenir and bars/restaurants (during season!) street, nice big pool and garden, parking lot (plenty of space off season), dont know about season time though! Very friendly, lovely people, good food. Getting there through the town.... despite navigator! Stick to the bigger streets and dont let your navi get you through the lovely but mostly one way streets in the city center... you´ll find yourself circling a lot (nothing to do with hotel though). Hotel itself was busy even in off season. We liked it.
The location and view were outystanding, there was a very warm welcome all our requests were met on the spot. It was all we expected
The hotel was extremely relaxing and comfortable and well up to the standard of these type of Spanish hotels i.e. Paradors, converted castles etc, many of which we have stayed in over a long period of years. Nothing really. Just difficult to find especially as given directions(coming by car) were incorrect.
A fabulous building with so much of interest and beauty and very friendly and helpful staff location wasn't the best
reception desk staff very helpfull breakfast room staff (with the exception of 1 woman) were rude and unhelpful, could not even get a cup of coffee, reception gave us partial refund when my husband complained at check out
Beautiful building, centrally placed.
the central location ------- good breakfast
Historical building with good facilities we enjoyed our two days stay
General ambience of foyer and reception areas, also pool very good. Staff really nice and helpful too. Rooms were not four star standard. Also it was at the upper end of trhe scale in terms of rate.
Being an old monastery, the hotel was very charming with old paintings and antiques and curios.
The room was old, with dated fixtures and furniture. The room was also quite hot, and it never really cooled down during our stay in early June. The hotel does a substantial business in wedding receptions, and they allow loud music to be played late into the night. The kitchens sit roughly in the very middle of the hotel, and they are not well ventilated - the entire first floor of rooms smells of frying food every night. Finally, the staff was not particularly helpful. For example, they refused to reconfirm our international departure flight for us; they told us that they could only telephone the airport and not the carrier.
a great house with history, spacious room, pool in the garden. the room was not quiet at all, the street nearby, yelling people on the other side of the street in the building right next too. The promised "king-size" bed was a queen size... in the best case... not even this. our room was not cleaned by the stuff in the morning as we wished to stay private, after we left the hotel no one tryed to clean it or to change the towels
Amazing old monastery building - like staying in a museum! The pool closed the day we got there with no warning, and we had to beg the staff just to let us sit in the sun next to it (seeming as the solarium was closed too). Apparently the problem was it 'winter' but it was also 25 degrees plus!
The staff provided excellent service and were always willing to help. Nice weather and great beaches
enviroment, flowers, garden, pool little expensive
Very nice apartment. The heated swimming pool is fantastic.
Apartment location & accessability to the swimming pool distance from main town
- good standing and nice design
Spatious rooms. The SPA is good but could be better. The included buffet breakfast was very good Many drawbacks here. Before going you should really ask yourself if there is a real need for going far from everything else and spend all this money. The apartments are big, but very poor refined. The hotel staff (low season?) is slow (30-40 min for a checkin/checkout) and poorly trained. The swimming pool is little but if you want to take a sunbath, be sure to have your spray for flies and mosquitos. Check carefully the door handles as you could be trapped in your bath for hours...
layout & facilities could be a little cleaner
Quiet and clean Staff was a mighty cold although helpful
We liked the layout of the apartment, the quietness and the area. We did not like having to pay 6 euros for the use of the indoor pool, in view of the price of the apartment. Some of the features in the apartment were old (fridge) or broken (safe) and had not been fixed/replaced.
Location and quietness, but most staff not to co-operative except two ladies trying to assist really. service has room for improvement.no internet connection in public place.access to spa only by extra payments. sun chairs packed away in evening but not easily accessible in the morning
Only one night, very good, breakfast staff excellent
Hotel staff very friendly. Hotel located across the street from the beach. Hotel had limited information about things to do in the area.
I think that the price for this hotel (room) was very good, the staff was nice.. Breakfast is too expensive...
Staff were helpful Breakfast poor. There are no balconies and you advertise that all rooms have balconies
The hotel looks and feels great The Front Desk lady was not welcoming, she kept asking for the people that was staying in the room's ID, even after I paid for the room she didn't want to give me the WiFi pass word until I gave her the ID of people staying in the room. Also she wanted me to pay 11€ for parking when I parked outside by the door w/o a problem and no charge. Everytime I saw her she will remind me of the ID. I work in a 5 star hotel as a manager and the way she treat me wasn't hospitable at all.
Very clean. Nice room. Decent location halfway between tourist city and nightlife. Better for families than solo travellers.
Central, comfortable , and staff helpful.Even cleaned car windscreen whilst garaged overnight. No
Large, clean room. All facilities of a good standard. English-speaking staff. The hotel is very good but I would reccommend more for business than leisure
Rooms need upgrading but are very comfortable. Location is excellent for the old town. Approx 10 mins walk or bus if necessary. Several good restaurants about 10 mins walk down by the beach. More suitable for city break or business than resort hotel.
was "pretty" handy for access to old town. Lots of walking involved
The location was good for the historic town It was a bit tired and in need of room makeovers
The staff at the breakfast was unpleasant, not helpful or nice. No parking
SPA is excellent... breakfast was not included to the price, strange... ( 117 eur )
comfortable the cleaning woman didn't change used glasses of our room so we had to wash them to use by ourselves.
Excellent location right next to port and in the old town. Foyer earea etc excellent. Rooms don't have views though. Very helpful staff . Room clean and comfortable with all usual facilites, including tea and coffee making facilites. Room service good and value for money
The best thing about this hotel is the spa. The location is also terrific as it's close to the train station and central for shopping and sightseeing. Also, make sure that you go up to the roof as the view is terrific (and then you won't need to make the climb to the top of any of the towers in town!). The decor of the hotel was not what I would consider to be a 4-star standard; the description says that it's a "brand new hotel" but I don't see how this is possible - everything looked very worn-out. Also, you have to pay extra to use the spa, which was worth it, but then they also have a bunch of other charges on top of the extra charge - such as, you have to wear flip flops in the spa and if you don't have any, you have to buy some from them. They also charge extra for towels in the spa, which seems a bit petty - we used the ones from our rooms rather than pay an extra 1.50 euros each, but then had no dry towels to use in our room.
Location, reception areas English translation of menu
Nice and central but no real buzz in the surrounding area as with our hotel in Seville. instructions on how to find it. Totally incomprehensible. Took nearly 45 minutes to find it. When rung hotel staff no real help. Access to hotel garage diabolical
the situation, and the brasserie style cafe
wonderful location, close to bus station and rental car agency as well as the heart of the old city
the position of the hotel in relation to the attractions of the city we booked no smoking rooms and were put into smoking rooms one of which could best be described as an ashtray! Staff showed little interest in solving the problem.
We were treated extremely well by the staff and when they realised we were visiting from NZ showed additional positive interest in our well being.
All of the staff were very helpful. Hotel was comfortable and food was very good Rather a long way from the old town. It took and hour each way to walk
Relax and budget
The hotel is a bit 'strange', in the beginning we felt like we were all alone, but then it seemed that there are also appartments with a very large pool. Rooms are spacious, but beds are hard. Large bathrooms. Nobody explained us anything, so we checked it out ourselves. Personnel is not really friendly, especially at breakfast. Airco was broken for three days and same period they asked us to shut windows during night because of fumidation of gardens. Strange timing. Hard beds.
peaceful/ good food/excellent service/good value no
We visited the hotel for my wifes 60th birthday - we could not have wished for a more perfect setting. The bedroom was large and very comfortable. The staff friendly and attentive and the gardens were magnificent, The food was excellent and good value for money. We will certainly stay there again and would recommend it to anyone who wants somewhere special.
The rooms and facilities including the different swimmingpools were very good. Also the location is perfect with only 1-2 minutes drive to a fantastic beach. They should have better wireless internet connection. We had to use a cable in the room. Only staff working in the reception spoke/understood english.
Everything, it was an excellent hotel, with a huge and comfortable room. Real value for money. Excellent hotel stuff, especially the receptionist.
vast room, very comfortable, with very good quality for money. services and staff of very good level just a little bit difficult to locate
quiet location room was not vacuumed very well no balcony rooms overlooking harbour were better
Wonderful the whole stay! Nothing
The lady at the reception was absolutely charming. Very spacious room with 2 double beds and nice, comfortable bathroom. Huge terrace which overlooked the harbour. You could nearly touch the boats. We regretted to be able to stay only one night. We shall certainly go back. Although the room had been cleaned properly, the carpets and the sofa in the room look a bit "tired".
The room was great and the staff was helpful. Modern and clean and comfortable. Oddly, it seems like the prices were so reasonable for such a room because it's in some half finished development that was hit by the recession and simply never recovered. The hotel is great, and the surrounding area is pleasant and safe, it's just bizarre because it's a lot of rich people who clearly invested in this area then got rocked by the recession, so now all the rich people hang out next to half finished houses and their yachts (the hotel is literally a yacht club as well).
Great room with a huge balcony. In its class this must be about the largest room we have had as well. Easy to walk to the beach and a few local bars. We used it as stop over on the way to Portugal from Spain. Nothing worth mentioning.
The room was spaceous and the terras was very large. Also the location of the hotel at the marina was very good. Even for a new hotel there was already a lot of damage to various items. Although a lot of facilites were mentioned at the hotel, hardly any facility was open and the staff was ok but not overly friendly.
the most thing which i was wondered is silence and relax nothing
Bed was very comfy. Simple coffee and toast was a very nice breakfast, apart from their breakfast buffet which we did not try. Overall, all the hotel staff were very nice to us. Could clearly hear cleaning staff in hallway in the AM talking.
It was an charming historic refurbished building and in a very convenient part of the town. All the hotel staff were pleasant and extremely helpful. We had a very enjoyable trip. This would not be a hotel for a family 'bucket and spades' holiday and it was not right in the centre of town - a pleasant 5-10 minute walk into the delightful Puerto de Santa Maria. Both of which pleased us. Nothing at all.
Elegant and charming hotel with many features of the original bodega. The lack of a pool but they are planning one for next year in the courtyard.
The Hotel was clean and offered all the necessary facilities. There was a relaxing courtyard where one could easily while away the hours. The restaurant was excellent as is their twin restaurant in the town a few minutes walk away. The staff were ultra helpful in providing details of places to visit and eat in Cadiz. It is conveniently placed for the fast and cheap (€2.10) catamaran ferry to Cadiz.
This is a hotel of great character and charm with modern facilities.
A very great hotel! If you are on halfboard, you´ll really enjoy it. The food is really excellent and of high quality and freshness. The staff is very helpful for whatever you would like to do in the region. The city by itself does not have a great interest
Very relaxing stay
Very pleasant hotel at very reasonable (low season) price. Soundproofing between rooms inadequate: neighbours' snoring and bathrooms to be heard through the walls.
The quietness and comfort Dinner
Friendly welcome. Clean large rooms set around a lovely courtyard.
The view from the room
great location right beside a beautiful beach not all balconies get the sun
Nice location, comfortable rooms. bunch of crazy gipsy drunk men singing on the beach at 4:am!!!
Cleaning of room daily was abit hit and miss eg: we had to reuse dirty glasses, toiletry products not replaced daily.
The location right on the soft sand beach and beautiful design of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would have preferred one double bed instead of two twin beds, but there were none available in non-smoking rooms.
cracking locatio on the beach close to restuarants and cheringuitos. nice pool and breakfast comprehensive not so easy to get to by road adn expensive parking
Beach front location is excellent, though I did have to pay extra for beachfont rooms. lift from rooms to beach without going through lobby great facility. Lobby of the hotel is grubby especially the large sofa which needs cleaning. the whole hotel could do with a makeover. if it were not for the location the hotel would not rate highly and even with its good location I think it is overpriced
The view from of the beach was nice once we paid the 22 euros of extra. The welcome desk was rude. The initial room( without the extra 22 euros of a full front), was poor, we had a perfect view on a gray facade of a decrepit building. The hotel did not reply to our initial questions at provided on the booking website!
Close to beach, helpful when I left bag behind, view, Charges for parking and wifi
Ideally situated for both the beach and for exploring the old town of Cadiz.
I would recommend this hotel to any traveller. The hotel is in the center of the city but a bit far from the beach. Good value for the money. Parking available just in the hotel.
The breakfast was very good for the price.
Everything! Excellent hotel, nice rooms, great location and it has a pool on the roof. Santa Maria is a buzzing place full of restaurants and bars. Parking is limited but you can leave a car on the street outside the hotel for free or on a car park opposite by the ferry terminal which I think was a euro a day.
close to the ship to Cadiz, swimming pool little parking inside
very perfect environment, very comfortable with cheap price the location is not in cadiz, it's about 30minutes from cadiz by train.
A well placed very clean hotel, with a lot of traditional Spanish charm. A neat and well laid out swimming pool area upon the roof with a good vista of views. Buffet breakfasts were of top quality, also the room service. Ideally situated next to the waterfront with frequent passenger ferries to and from Cadiz. Car parking in hotel basement. Good venue for tourist or business use. (booked in for 2 days second week in June 2007). Narrow and traffic busy one way streets surround hotel in this area. Can be very daunting until one gets the feel of the place.
it was wery good placed
It was alright, not what I expected The room decor was awful, really old fashioned, the pool was pretty basic and the terrace was just too windy to relax.
Close to the center and very close to the boat to Cádiz. Nice staff, good breakfast. Parking was full but parking on the street was available and safe (and free). The nearest beach is 800m and it is not the most beautiful one. Other beaches are easy available by car.
it is very closed to the old city of Cadiz...the view on the Altantico is fantastic...The swimming pool is very nice as well. the room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend it.
Good location and great view parking available The pool was not in use
The excellent situation, and the view from the terrace. The courteous and helpful staff. very good breakfast. Easy walk to the od town with all its attractions. If you want the beach there is an excellent one just 2 mins turning right from the hotel. Always something to see in the bay, we were pleased we took the binoculars. There were problems with the pool while we were there, but I assume this was only temporary.
Location Friends who were with us had a very poor room which needed modernisation, very disappointing for a Parador.
Rooms spacious and clean No beach access
The location. The staff is trying very hard to give you a good experience, still, no one can be that good so you forget about the old hotel. Very old and in bad condition, not refurbished for around 20 years. Airconditioning in first room not working at all during the day, so we got a new one when we came back after dinner. Then we find out that the AC is switched off in the whole hotel its switched off at 11.30 pm means you will have a very warm sleep. There are much much nicer hotels for this price in Cadiz. Very surprised to see this rund down place being marketed as a Parador. Very very disapointed.
Very convenient location. Spacious and well appointed hotel room. Good sea views from balcony. Airy public rooms.
The very good accessibility to all the sights which you need to see in Cadiz couldn't have been happier with the location. The restaurant.
Excellent possibility to combine "city activities" (fascinating history, culture, flamenco, gasttronomy etc) and "beach activities"
The view of the rooms was excellent. The hotel is very well located, very clean... rooms has everything u can need during a vacation. Hotel has great pool by seaside, and one very nice thing... they had a live piano player every night at the restaurants area.. very romantic!!! Definitely i would go there again! The rooms were kinda old... definitely they need some refurbishment... still they were extremely clean and comfortable.
Friendly staff and central location. Lots of good restaurants and bars within easy walking distance Can be a little noisy due to tiled floors
Good, central location. Anonymity if you wanted it. Staff helpful. Other residents slam doors late at night and voices/plumbing can be hgeard from adjoining rooms. but this is par for the course in Spain.
The location is quite good to walk around the city. Too expensive for the quality of services. The room was full of sand and the staff took lots of time to clean it properly. There is no reason to pay so much for so bad service. breakfast was really really bad. And the prices rise on high season and it seem that the service quality decrease! Don't understand how is possible to charge 140 euros/nigh and have a so bad service! I don't recommend to stay on this hotel!
very well located, and a parking next door a litle bit noisy
Rooms were lovely and was nice to arrive to a smiling face. Great location in regards to train\bus staion, and ferry, and restaurant and bars. The staff were effecient. The spa bath couldve been cleaned better. Breakfast was included in our price which was good because although it was not bad it was not exceptional and probably wouldnt have spent alot of money on it.
Room wide and very clean Breakfast Some of the staff is not kind
The hotel is conveniently located and very pleasant. Our room was well appointed and completely comfortable. There were several amenities that bumped the hotel into a significantly better than average experience. My only complaint is that it was impossible to take a shower without covering the bathroom floor with water. The half-door on the shower is ill-conceived and the seal at the bottom ineffective. Otherwise, we had a very good experience at Los Cantaros.
We enjoyed our brief stay and mostly were keen to be near the port for the cadiz ferry - the hotel met this criteria for us. no
Nothing wrong with this hotel Stuff was not friendly, the hotel looks kind of old, 10 euros per day parking for motorbike was too much,
The service, the professionalism and the smile of the staff. They were very helpful and welcoming. we just checked the breakfast at the hotel and we found it poor in variety. we didn't have any there.
The location of the hotel, it is on the most beautiful beach. We visit the hotel regularly. N/A
The convenience of the beach and eating establishments. Rooms are clean and bathroom is first class. Pillows could be more plump.
We were made welcome, given a very comfortable room with fantastic views over the beach. Breakfast was very good but the dining room seemed a bit canteen like.
the people , the comfort , the location , the view all is perfect dining room and terrace facilities needs to be updated .
The location is great, right on the beach.
Wonderful location opposite beach with night street market in front of the hotel and choice of great restauants. Easy to get about with buses.
Reception staff were excellent on the day. Rooms looked tired and in need of refurbishment.
The location and facilities were very good. I also very much appreciated the bottle of wine and dessert being placed in my room on my birthday - my thanks to the management and staff Perhaps some of the staff could work on their friendliness - perhaps it is just the cultural diffrence (New Zealand and Spain) - very few of the staff ever smiled when being greeted or greeting us.
Parking facilities. Convinient for beach, resturants and city centre
Very good location and friendly staff. You need to cross the street in order to get to the beach.
We liked the room (comfortable and clean). There was lots of light and a nice view. The lobby area was nicely done. The bar at night did not serve any food.
I did not like anything. The room was dirty. It was a junior suite with a huge balcony but very unsecure (as the balcony was connected to the corridor by one side). The hotel was very noisy and the food awful. It has no direct access to the beach as other hotels. It is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.Even 2 stars hotels are better than this one.
location good staff very helpful and food ok long queues experienced for breakfast and dinner during weekend.
The room was reasonably large and had a balcony overlooking the pool. The services were terrible. The waiters and waitresses could care less about you. The food was dull, boring, and repetitive. Parking was problematic. Maid service was minimal and the room was not cleaned. I had to go asking for towels 2 times. The room key would not work. There were cats climbing on the resturant tables in the morning!
It is close to the beach. Hotel staff was extremely poor. Everything is pay extra. Parking is terrible. Hotel food was plain and excessively expensive. This should be rated a 3-star at best, not 4-star. Choose somewhere else!
Price/Quality ratio is perfect. Cousine is perfect. Spa facilities very good, the Ocean is the best. Strongly recommended.
Cleanliness, Golf course and breakfast
The breakfast was excellent ! The buffet in the evening good ! They forgot to clean our room from one day to the other ! We paid a little more to have a Junior Suite, but that was waste of money. The room was also foolishly furnished.
My room was spacious and really enjoyed the balcony. The Spa was wonderful. Parking was a nightmare. Staff was very unfriendly. Had many issues with room key not working properly. Layout of hotel was not user friendly at all.
Very friendly and helpful bar/restaurant staff. Cheap room rates. Clean rooms. Awful bathroom facilities. Very thin walls, so pretty noisy. No natural light in the room. Couldn't get over to the other side of my room without climbing over the bed!
The room was comfortable and well air conditioned. When I got into my room, workmen were drilling next door for a good half hour. This continued a couple of days later. The hotel is a five-minute walk from the beach, but it's always too windy to go there and so there are hardly any people on the beach...so the hotel isn't what I expected. When I tried to book an extra night, the reception staff told me to use booking.com again...so I went elsewhere. The hotel is a good 45-minute walk from the main town centre of Puerta de Santa Maria and there are prostitutes touting for trade on that walk.
Very nice hotel Good location Parking possibility
It had a nice garden with a pool, and location was good - it was located in a residential area, so parking was easy, and the beach was just 15 minutes walk. The staff did not speak much English, and both quality and variety of the breakfast were poor, even for a two-star hotel. Besides, the isolation of the rooms was not good, we could here our neighbors very clearly (even though they were really not loud).
the bed, the lobby poor insulation, the buzzing noise from the main and other noise from various sources, like flushing, human activity etc. Breakfast was abysmal.
The silence and the surroundings
Very good restaurant with food at very reasonable prices.
We just stay for one night no
Great staff, very clean, very close to the beach, great value! It would have been nice to have a bigger variety at breakfast, but I really can't complain since it was free.
Only stayed one night but it was convenient, comfortable and clean - and the receptionist spotted it was my birthday and wished my happy birthday!
Stayed for a business trip. Basic facilities, nothing fabcy but all that you need for business trip. Clean, close to the beach and relatively cheap when I booked. They gave me a room looking at the back so no nice view but quiet. Most of the staff could hardly speak english. No wifi in my room, had to go to the lounge to check my emails. On the website on booking.com was saying "air shuttle" but this refers to the public bus service (which takes almost 2 h for a 30 min drive), not a hotel service!
The Hotel was very well situated the staff particularly at reception were very good and helpful a bit on the pricey side but other than that very good
friendly staff and hotel was clean, well maintained and cosy. No choice for breakfast. Coffee not hot and hotel was in location surrounded with shops but few restaurants and bars near to hotel
The orange juice and nice people. The breakfeast: the bread wasn't good. The room's view.
There is linked car parking space within 100 metres and buses pass directly in front of the hotel heading for the city centre. Like many continental hotels there was no kettle in the room. As a Brit I would really appreciate that facility.
Proximity to beach - whilst easy to get to the old town via bus. Decent breakfast included Surrounding area is a bit grubby.
reception, helpful staff, wifi cafe bar only open mornings
The hotel staff was very kind and helpful
Excellent attitude and very helpful staff. Very quiet relaxing atmosphere. Very spacious rooms.
Very impressed by the interior, good information from the reception, good rooms, View from the balkon good be better, good breakfast.Easy acces to main roads. View from the balkon good be better,
The quiet residential area where the hotel's situated, very close to the beach and the promenade. Quite a stroll away from the centre and difficult to access if one doesn't have a car.
Clean hotel, lovely staff, nice sized bedrooms, relaxing pool area and great location -very close to the beach.
The staff were extremely friendly and very accomodating. We were travelling with two small children and it was an ideal hotel for us with plenty of space in the bedroom, with a fridge and hob also in the room. A very enjoyable stay.
Spacious and clean. The staff was very helpful especially at the breakfast. Difficult to find even with a GPS.
made to feel at home ,and we where important to the staff no
Friendly staff No facilities for making tea or coffee in the room. Although describded as an apartment hotel many rooms are no equiped as apartments. The hotel is nearly impossoble to find
interesting building design very helpful, kind, pleasant staff.the hotel was exceptionally clean. no
Very helpful staff, room design. Not really a dislike, but travellers should be made aware that English is not spoken by staff at this hotel. The staff made every effort to assist and we got by with a little "spanglish"!
