The location We booked a double room but got two single beds pushed together. Pretty uncomfortable
the location the internet demand for payment. it should be free
size of the room was more than expected room was clean interior rooms have a poor view. Little natural light in our room due to layout
modern amenities, location Need towel racks or hooks, neither room during two stays had a place to put wet towels to dry.
Excellent rooms, most comfortable beds I've ever slept in, fabulous location and no noise atall, great aircon, all in all a five star experience! Only being really fussy, there was no shower screen and although this could drain into the bathroom floor it wasn't sufficient to stop it reaching the carpet of the bedroom, not very good design!
Location It was kind of old and the room was cold because of the windows
Staff are excellent/location is excellent/rooms are modern and spacious/non-smoking floor No
The hotel is centrally located to many of the museuems and sightseeing sites. Take Tram 4 from Centraal Station and you are within 100 m of the hotel back entrance near Rembrandt Square. Excellent staff and top quality breakfast start your day off right. Great value for the money.
Location location location. The staff was nice but overbusy so sometimes they didn't have time to properly take care of everyone. Room was big and clean A bit chilly in the room, they said it was not possible to regulate the heating because it was share with other rooms. Very rich breakfast buffet, but too much expensive for the price. Shuttle service came 40 minutes late and took 1h to get me (at last) to the hotel.
Amazing location, very helpful staff. Room was very comfortable.
It was closed to the festival I was attending. Silent rooms. The rooms are completely small, nothing to do with what they show in the pictures in this webpage. Even the wardrove was impossible to be open because of the space. The room cleaning was not good at all.
Located next to Rembrandtplein with trams and restaurants, Terry at the bar was AMAZING! Broken elevator, tiny room, shower was awkward, hot water broke, bathroom door was a shower door
Only the fact that there was free wifi Small room, barely 6*8.. TV was crap, battub was the smallest I have ever seen, didn't know they made it this tiny... Room had odor, housekeeping didn't change bed sheets nor did they clean the floor, just placed new towels in.
Good value for money considering the location The part of the hotel where i stayed would need to be refurbished. I'm generally not fussy but i would have appreciated cleaner bathrooms.
good location 5 minutes from the shopping district and 10 minutes from most attractions. There was building work being carried out in the hotel that we weren't informed about and this started at 6am. so each morning we stayed we got woken by loud banging. in future i wouldn't return to this hotel due to the construction work not being disclosed at check in or appologised for on leaving.
Location. Clean. Tiny shower in bathroom. Curtains didn't quite close to block all light.
Unfriendly & authoritarian check in staff, not customer orientated. Run down rooms not expected from Best Western.
The location of the hotel only The staff spoke to you like you like you are stupid essp the guy working as a concierge. The bathroom was extremely small with dirty walls and black stainscreen in the wall lining. The roomovers looked nothing like the pictures.
We wanted a budgeted hotel in the centre. So it worked. Interior of the rooom we stayed was very standard and poorly decorated
Comfortable room, although not very big, good bed and very nice sheets. Enough storage space for clothes. Nice bathroom. Excellent location! Hotel stuff (apart from concierge) not really customer friendly.
Good location close to points of interest. Sparse furnishing and poor maintenance, dirty carpets, cold room.
Great location, room was clean, comfortable The concierge was very helpful Good WiFi connection :)
The staff were professional and extremely pleasant. The location was perfect to see everything Amsterdam has to offer.
The position is quite good. The bed is very comfortable. The hotel is far from being a five stars level. Small rooms, old furniture, noisy, no complimentary services, poor level of service staff. The price paid is too high for what you get.
The fact that the hotel is located in a central area. The hotel has very good facilities.
Everything was of a high level No
The service was amazing! Roland was the best concierge ever. He really made our trip fabulous! Everyone was so friendly Nithing
Very good location, Nice minibar, Friendly staff I was not given a good room from the beginning. I lost too much time to give us an acceptable room.
Comfort of room and helpful staff
This is a luxurious hotel located in the part of the Amsterdam. The service, the food and the staff were among the best that we have ever seen. We would love to go back there again.
The hotel in general, the room, view, location, staff breakfast was too expensive and too poor
Location The breakfast that is supposed to be included is just teas and coffees. You have to pay extra for a cooked breakfast even if your room rate says breakfast is included. The radio in the room started playing on its own early in the morning for no reason, extremely loudly. When we called down for a porter to switch it off, it took him 10-minutes to stop it playing. This woke us up and we couldn't get back to sleep. The staff didn't seem to care about such a major inconvenience.
Attentive and courteous staff - lovely room with views over city - would definitely stay there again.
Its central location, its friendly helpful staff, its comfortable rooms and pleasant atmosphere and there was no language barrier.
The Staff were very friendly, view from the room accross the canal was fantastic, Breakfast was good. Location was Excallent! Generally the hotel had a very good atmosphere.
Nice hotel in a great location with wonderful, warm and helpful staff. We really enjoyed our stay. More of a B&B feel than a hotel. Not the most updated rooms, but very quaint and the location made up for it.
Location and friendly staffs. The top floor (4th) are dormers. Rooms got very small, and low beams of the room. I was hit three times and I am only 5' 8". Be aware.
Really very friendly hotel. We spent there our honeymoon and loved it! Located in center but 'silent center', far from noise. So it's very easy to get anywhere you need. Very beautiful and romantic exterior and interior design. Really very tasty breakfast, especially for this money. Best offer I ever saw in Amsterdam on this level of hotels. Also very funny lift :) Unfortunately there is no air condition, only radiator. No shower cabin. But this is just a trifle. Very nice hotel, really!
The room was not a very good shape, and one felt rather cramped. The state of the inside of the bathroom door was not good for the money we paid.
Fantastic breakfast, very kind staff and the houseboat we stayed in made the holiday unforgetable for us. no
The gentleman At recption "will" was the most pleasant and helpful man. He made our stay very nice. The hotel was lovely, but it might be time that the canal boat we stayed the last 2 nights had a little refurbishment. Otherwise I would suggest these boats, what a great place to stay
Room with canal view and the breakfast area and the breakfast. Room needs updating. tv fallen out of wall mounting. Chair with broken seat webbing. Light disconnected over mirror. but character of room (with the fab view), friendliness of staff made up for these shortcomings.
About everything 10 Euros for the second day breackfast...
friendly hotel staff
The heating worked well. The stairs are extremely steep and narrow.
The room was long and narrow, with a view of toilet and shower, which could not be partitioned off, as this would have closed off a window, that provided the natural light for the room. The window would not close properly and there was no way of securing it. The room was on the 2nd floor and the second set of stairs were steep, I was lucky I had a small case. Probably the rooms which face on to the street, would have been better value. However I had booked for 4 nights, but I only stayed two.
The location is excelent, just 10 minutes walk to center. The room was very very small, we couldn't walk between the beds both persons in the same time. This hotel is only for sleeping, nothing more.
Great location and friendly hotel stuff.
It was situated very beautifully in a nice neighbourhood. Very close to everything, It was a very poor standard, which was sad, because the hotel could be very romantic and beautiful.
The Bed was Comfortable. There was an opening window. I was in 'shock' upon entering - It presented as a 'budget backpacker hostel' in reasonable condition. Had We viewed the room, prior to being requested for Full Payment - We would have selected another Hotel. We were disappointed . However, We did appreciate the good location.
location& price building worked room
The location The hotel is very noisy inside. The shared bathroom did not have basic facilities.
Quiet location, very clean, nice view, and especially very polite and helpfull staff It was a perfect accomodation for a traveller
A very nice room for the price I paid. Nice location - 15-20 minutes walk from the city centre. Great view to the channels. Toilet and bathroom outside the room (but it was mentioned in hotel description of course)
Considering some of the "hotels" available in the city, for the money this is pretty good, It's tight and a little cramped but it's clean and the bed was comfortable, and it's a good location. Small, and for the sake of €8 the very underwhelming breckfast should be included, we walked 5minutes toward Rembrandt square and got gourmet breakfast and real coffee for €11.50
Absurd! They advertise that there is a free WiFi in the lobby but in fact it is only for the first 20 minutes. On top of it, the bandwidth speed is additionally limited by their software to only 120kbps (about the speed of two dial-up telephone lines). They really made sure that they do not "overspend" on any bytes. Absurd! It felt as the whole hotel is incredibly stingy
Good location, we had a nice big room although asked for standard. Breakfast could be included or had a better price.
The hotel was very central and we were upgraded as we wanted a non-smoking room so it was very comfortable with a sofa - beds very good and nice duvets. Husband delighted to get BBC1 and 2 so he could watch the rugby and listen to the cricket highlights!
Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely room. Great location. Convenient, pleasant restaurant.
Overall we had a pleasant stay, due to short notice travel we paid $250 per night whic is way too much for this hotel. The location was very convenient, walk to most tourists attractions and a tourist restaurants. The bedding was clean. Due to the urin smell in the bathroom the hotel gave us breakfast vouchers. This hotel is rated at 4, it is 3 star at best. The interior itself is dated, you can tell they have tried improving it by panting and cleaning the carpets. It is obvious a remodel is in order to bring it up to 4 star standard. I believe most European hotel turn off the ability to run the AC in the winter. With the windows closed the room became rather stuffy, we slept with the window open on the 6th floor with ear plugs in since the partying went on till 4am. The toilet had a constant urin smell even after having the maid clean with bleach and leaving us an air freshener. Maintenance replaced the sink trap but still smelled. My wife called the front desk for a simple question and front desk clerk by the name of Alessio(male with a beard) was rude and condescending.
Location, staff very helpful and very friendly For the price I believe the breakfast should be included in the price ,
Great central location. I loved the mini-kitchen. The bathroom, however, lacked a full shower door so the bathroom floor was constantly wet after using the shower. The room was very spacious, especially for a European hotel. The carpet and bedding color schemes were horrible.
Sofa bed in room to accomodate young children
No bar, or comfortable lounge
All-inclusive (mini bar, food and drinks at the lobby, breakfast)
1. helpful, friendly staff 2. complimentary snacks and beverages 3. location
The hotel has a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere - it's almost like staying at someone's home. You can sit by the fire with a glass of wine (included in the room rate) and read or relax. The breakfast is good, with an extensive buffet and hot dishes prepared to order. Because of the location, which is very central and excellent in most regards, taking a car to the hotel is not advisable as parking is hard to find and very expensive. I would recommend using public transport if possible - it is quite extensive and efficient in Amsterdam.
All in price drinks snacks and beakfast
It was central, comfortable, had a very nice breakfast and it's inclusive concept was brilliant.
Great cozy hotel in a great location. Free beer, wine and evening cheese and snacks is really great. I would recommend to anyone to stay there. The wifi was a bid slow at times but perfectly acceptable most of the time.
Central location within the city center. Hotel staff very friendly and efficient. Good breakfast. Good idea to have free access to coffee machine, drinks and snacks. However, for alcoholic beverages, we would have liked to have the option of paying for premium/better quality drinks. The room was very small and the "canal view" is of no real interest. No restaurant in the hotel so the choice for room service menu is very poor.
Extra little comforts like free coffee and snacks.Breakfast included which was excellent. Staff very efficient. Only that i prefer a bath to taking a shower. But the shower in the room was a good quality one.
An excellent location with very friendly staff and comfortable accomodation. The free bar and snacks in the lounge area made it a very sociable hotel too. Nothing it was excellent all round.
Excellent location, very comfortable. The staff is very sharp, attentive and friendly. The breakfast is great as is the self-serve bar. I wish they had a gym, though they can send you to a local gym a couple of blocks that's quite reasonable.
Staff were fantastic. The food/drink concept is very welcome and helpful in such an expensive city. Good showers. I would agree with some comments that the rooms are a bit plain. If the rooms had the detail and decor of the reception areas it would be excellent.
The location of the hotel was excellent. We got bitten By creatures whilst in bed. Possibly bedbugs. The music from a nightclub was also very loud.
Its location, very central, the rooms were spacious enough to accomadate two adults and two children comfortably. Be aware there are some very steep stairs going to the room :). It was a bit noisy, but it was in an entertainment area and this is to be expected.
Warm welcome, informative and efficient staff. Third floor room in annexe was clean and fairly quiet. Two rooms, perfect for our two young children.
I loved the spaciousness of the rooms, the location, and the view from my room. It faced the canal and made me happy to look out and watch the scene. It was a bit noisy. I also felt the amenities weren't quite there. Shampoo and soap would have been nice. I had to ask for hair dryer (but received one). And the internet wasn't reliable.
The hotel was in a convenient location, and the staff were pleasant.Other than that there is nothing good to say about it. The rooms were not clean, with cigarette burns in the bedding. The mattress seemed about as old as the hotel, which is at least 50 years old, and the funiture was very tatty.
We had a beautiful time in Amsterdam, and the Hotel Amstelzicht was perfect for us. A cosy hotel, with a confortable bed, very clean, in the heart of the city and with a beautiful view from our room. Thank you. We enjoyed the experience very much !
Awful and dirty room in the basement, with mouse and bloody bed cover. Terrible place with mouse in the room. It is unacceptable.
I booked a room in this hotel, but I get an appartment for the same price... Great...
Location, location, location Customer service was the worst I didn't even get replacement towels or toilet paper I don't have any other comparison point in the Netherlands but it's the worst hotel I've stayed in Europe
The central position. ready for refurbishment, but that is reflected in the price.
The staff was generally cordial and helpful. I was happy to see the hotel provide Internet service. The room was not ready when I arrived, around noon. The desk was too small and poorly lit. I could not sit at it to write. The bed was too big for the room, leaving too little space to move away from the bed to the door.
The location of the hotel was great, very central and also scenic at a canal, perfect for walking around the city and sightseeing. The quality of breakfast was also very good. I had a single room and it was as small as you can imagine, but anyway I used it only to spend the night.
Excellent center location -
drinks at hotel room.
The hotel is very convenient to the film festival I was attending Problem with getting proper receipt as is usual from most hotels with details of room and number of nights etc. Also that breakfast now costs extra.
close to flower market though the radiator was working, it was still cold....
The view from the hotel room and the location. The staff was also extremely helpful. The curtains did not fit the windows nor did they close properly and too much light was in the room when we trying to sleep which was uncomfortable. The pillows were old and very used although the linen was clean. An extra blanket would also have been welcome in the room as it got a bit cold in the morning.
friendly reception - wifi no elevator
Got the (new) triple room - clean, comfortable, plenty of room and quiet. Very friendly, helpful staff, breakfast was simple but filling and included in the price, so great value. Hotel was easy walk to Rembrandtsplein and other main attractions. All in all, given the very reasonable price, highly recommended!
The location excellent for starting city exploration wi fi access restricted one mobile device
Beds were very comfortable, staff helpful and friendly, excellent breakfast, very good location.
the service is great, the hotel is close to the central of amsterdan.
location, location- the space of the rooms.... no shower curtain or door for bathing...
We liked the room. The hotel was in quiet area, but still close to "action".
The staff were friendly and very helpful. offered lots of information and tips for tourists. The rooms were bright, clean and the beds were very comfortable.
Staff very friendly and helpful at all times. Was very convient to town centre, and the trams, and Metro In our en suite there was no shower curtain, which made having a shower, awkard trying not to wet the floor (room 123)
Staying on the canal - something unique to Amsterdam - and reasonably quiet. Not applicable
They ripped me off for extra stuff that I wasn't supposed to pay. Also got my phone stolen in the room. Travelers be aware!!!
nothing Paper thin walls, tiny rooms, unhelpful front desk and manager/owner ?!
renovated rooms, great location, good breakfast rooms are a bit small, which is probably expected for Amsterdam
the location, the room, the staff, the view, the atmosphere
Let us check in a bit early, gave us a bigger room at same rate, very easy to store luggage after checkout, front desk staff very helpful Small shelf remained when we pushed twin beds together to make bigger bed, but OK.
Friendly staff, very nicely situated! Preferred a larger room.
The cosiness of the place
Excellent location, very helpful staff.
The staff were friendly and accommodating. Can be a tad noisy if your room is close to common toilet facilities.
The staff were great and very helpful, especially the person working at the time we checked in, who told us how to get around town and carried our luggage up three flights of winding stairs. They also moved our luggage for us when we changed rooms the second night. The location was on a quiet canal street a short walk to Waterlooplein with stores and tram shop; it is also near the Hermitage museum and Jewish museum. There is no lobby but people sit in the attractive kitchen/breakfast room sometimes. The design is interesting--all black and white and grey. There was a very cute hotel cat too! There is no lift, but the staff were willing to help us with the luggage, so that was okay. The bathroom in our first room (a third floor double) was so tiny we sat sideways to use the toilet! Still quite useable and everything was clean and well appointed. The second room (triple near the reception desk) had a bigger bathroom, so maybe this varies from room to room.
Very nice location; only about 15 minutes to centraal. Also close to rembrandt house. The personelle is very polite and helpful.
Good location. Staff was very kind and helpfull. The breakfast was good. After we checked out, we could leave our bags in the hotel. The rooms are small, but for a few days staying it's ok. There's no elevator
It was in a good spot and easy to get to. We had a family room for 5 people. it was a long skinny room, one bathroom, one plug socket and no place to really sit. To cramped. Other rooms might have been better?
Good location - on the rim of the canal area of Amsterdam, 5 minutes from a metro station, 10 minutes from Neumark. My room was recently refurbished in modern style and very clean, unusual for such a budget hotel. You get what you pay for (and nothing more..)- my room was very small, it was almost impossible to open a window, I has no wi-fi in the room, and the price, almost needless to say, did not include breakfast.
Location Poor state of common areas, especially landing for lifts No air conditioning in room
We liked the rooms and the comfort of the beds. Good standard of cleanliness. Polite staff. Flat screen TV was great!
old fashion hotel the bath was not so comfort, and also water in the bath was so low, and change the degree with out permision,
Location The bed was too hard and uncomfortable
The service was excellent. The staff quickly and competently tended to my every need. The decor was an interesting new art deco. The bathroom was big and clean. Awesome! Location. The Sunday night disco across the Rembrandt Plein from the hotel was crazed.
Centrally located, nice clean room Centrally located in the middle of the noisy area... difficult to sleep before 5am due to the noise outside
staff very warm friendly. place safety and reasonable price
Excellent room for the money. Convenient & Comfortable. Terrible service.
The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff were excellent amd the breakfast very tasty and plenty The chairs in the room were not comfortable
The location was great and the staff was friendly, service orientated & knowledgeable. The beds are hard and rooms can be a little noisy - ask for 1 near top floor & away from elevator. A room switch was given to us & the new room was great.
The hotel had an amazing location close to the heart of Amsterdam. We were able to walk or ride our bikes everywhere we wanted to go. It was loud some nights, but the hotel provided ear plugs.
